dennis nathan sean wheeler. 26. straight. john boyega

dennis has always been the life and soul of any place he's in. some would call him a bit of a troublemaker, especially when he was younger. which made it hard for him to get adopted

has a very short attention span in every aspect of his life, and it sometimes made him a little too much for people

he latched on to cynthia, and mainly because she didn't abandon him like others did. she encouraged him --- which was both a good thing and a bad thing

didn't believe the rumours about the virus when it first came about. not until it took the only mother he ever knew, and he knew he had to protect cynthia and zoe as best he could

brought them both to gracefield, where they remained and made a home for themselves as best they could

dennis definitely hasn't lost his happy go lucky attitude, if anything he now uses it as a crutch

zoe siobhan quinn. 25. bisexual. lindsey morgan

grew up in foster care, jumped from family to family until finding a home with grace hughes. it's where she meets cynthia clemens and dennis wheeler

for most of her younger years she was selectively mute by her own doing. the social workers think it has something to do with her previous homelife, but zoe never mentions it

while under cynthia's wing, she gains her confidence and begins to talk again, but she's still considered quiet by those around her

she was 18 when ira - virus swept the globe. the foster three fight their way out of the city to try and find safety after watching grace turn. it was dennis that suggested gracefield, having a friend who worked on the rig. so they started to make their way to it.

has a knack for weapons ... assembling them, using them, building them. becomes the groups weapons specialist because of this, and is usually found in the makeshift armoury on the rig

takes on a more leadership role when cynthia is indirectly killed by caesar, and a lot of people do see her shift in personality afterwards. she becomes more vocal, more set on revenge for cynthia which starts to cause problems

the virus

ira - virus, or iv, reared it's ugly head. a few months prior, a group of scientists led by doctor bernard sunderland, had become aware of a vicious biological agent in primates deep within the rainforest that would illicit some form of great rage that spread like wildfire. so much so that they would beat each other to death, even go as far as eat each other in a fit of fury. it quickly mutated and spread throughout local tribes in the area, jumping from primate to human host. within those few months the scientists and local government thought they had it under control and isolated. however, one of their party had been infected. it took a total of 19 days for the whole of the united states to fall victim to iv. another 25 for it to become a global pandemic symptoms would display as follows if transferred by blood or saliva ; headaches, outbursts of anger, discolouration of pupils, fits of coughing, hallucinations, bleeding from eyes, nose, ears and then lastly, like a parasite, it would eat away at the hosts brain leaving only the medulla intact as it latches onto it for it's own survival - the part that is essential for human survival. the virus kills the human host, leaving it a shell of rage and hunger. as the virus learns and grows it can display differently in it's host. some have been known to cry and wail, a predatory mimic to pull in it's prey. and there has been rumours of the virus mutating it's host to the point of them becoming a literal monster there is currently no cure

the rig and gracefield

gracefield was a small community that was founded when the oil rig was commissioned to house the families of the workers. when the virus hit, a lot of the workers went back to shore and took their families away to safety while those who didn't really have anyone stayed. they built a wall around the town and made it a sanctuary, and it's a thriving one. those that stayed were able to keep the rig working and some scientists have began to use it as their base. they have a working helicopter and a couple of boats to allow people to go back and forth, they have working electricity though it is rationed.

the colosseum

run by a man that calls himself caesar, the colosseum is based out of a rundown high school that was relatively out of the way and easily protected. it's very much a dictatorship that appears to be helpful until you get inside. he makes survivors fight the infected for a place in his safety, and sometimes just for morbid entertainment, very gladiator style. some of those who live there are just grateful for the protection, while others revel in their leaders bloodthirsty ways. however, not everyone there agrees with his ways and teachings but once you're there, you can't leave

whatever  way  the  virus  affects  the  dead  host  it’s  given  it  a  sensitivity  to  sunlight  or  uv  rays  in  any  capacity,   during  day  time  hours  they  tend  to  hibernate  in  dark  places  waiting  for  the  sun  to  go  down,   but  they  have  been  known  to  be  out  during  the  day  but  for  short  periods  of  time.   especially  if  they  hear  a  living  person.   at  night  is  when  the  dead  are  most  active  obviously  due  to  the  lack  of  sunlight,   you  try  not  to  stay  out  after  dark.
