@deadtrendband
!!!
In a world of electronic cover versions and genres that are out of date immediately upon their inception, there is something refreshing about a band that revels in its own musical heritage. Dead Trend and their debut album False Positive do just that with 21 tracks of pure 80s Reagan-hating bile.
Dead Trend is a fictional band. They were dreamed up in a novel, they were comprised of four fictional people, and they existed in a fictional Midwestern city in an imagined version of the 1980s. And yet, Dead Trend just...

Dead Trend | “19th Hole”
Straight out of Portland, Maine, punkers Dead Trend are dropping their debut album, False Positive, on May 7th. Author Mike Fournier fronts this band (he’s most noted for his book “Double Nickels on the Dime” about the Minutement album of the same name), and he wails into the mic like he’s got a definite point to prove. Many of the songs are straight-up traditional punk rock, with a few little fun samples thrown in - the track I’ve linked to opens with what I can only guess is one of those old records from the ’50s that aimed to teach Americans foreign languages.
If this peaks your interest, check out more from Dead Trend over at their BandCamp profile.
