After the survey and the general positivity of the admins, closing Dead Silence likely comes as a shock to most of you. It’s not a decision we came to lightly. This has been on our mind for sometime now, and we believe that Dead Silence was destined to end prematurely.
We’re closing now, at the end of this chapter because of the timing in the admins’ lives. August is coming around, and with two of us going into our graduating year, the time we have to dedicated to Dead Silence is going to decrease exponentially. It simply comes down to the fact that we don’t have the time to dedicated to a stagnant, uninterested group. After so many months (almost a year since our original launch in November, 2016), with relatively no progress, we realized that no matter what we do we simply won’t be able to engage you all enough. Yes, we’re aware there are other circumstances. Life does get in the way of roleplaying and investigating. However, with such little progress we’ve been struggling to motivate ourselves for this group.
There are other factors as well.
The dynamic of the group simply isn’t a good one. We can see that many of you just don’t mesh. There’s nothing wrong with that, of course, but in a group like ours that relies so heavily on participation from everyone, the group can’t sustain itself.
We’ve also had issues with rude behavior. As we made public, we received a few surveys that were just harsh and cruel, far exceeding what could be classified as constructive criticism. Additionally, we’ve had a few people come to the admin team asking to either leave the group or expressing concern with a few players in particular. While it was never enough to actually kick someone, we decided that fixing the group we already had wasn’t going to help. No amount of new players, new rules, or new anything was going to help. For the mental health of the admins and those hurt by these individuals, we decided it was better to disband the group than to continue with how it is.
There are more reasons, as there are to any decision anyone makes. However, do not approach the admins about it. In fact, don’t ask the admins to elaborate on any of these points. Doing so can and will put us in an uncomfortable position that we’re not willing to be in. We’re not saying these things to point fingers or humiliate someone. We want to inform you and nothing more.
All that being said, Dead Silence will officially end the moment this post goes live. The discord will close three days later.
As for the plot of the verse, the admins have decided not to answer any questions regarding that. We do hope to reopen at a later time, and we’d like to keep the plot in tact. Thank you for the fun we’ve had and your participation.
