Grief seasons
Grief is like
Autumn
in that it starts off in
full force.
It’s beautiful array of colors,
unbelievable
and
unimaginable.
And then it slowly begins to
fade
and drop
and fall
and crumble
to the ground
until you’re only left with the
bare skeleton
of yourself.
But overcoming grief,
it’s like spring.
You spent the winter
cold and in agony.
But when spring comes,
colors begin seem brighter.
Life begins
to
flourish.
You start to
see the light
peek through
from the
fog
of the overcast skies.
The flowers
begin to
bloom
and things start to seem
brighter.
But there’s still a part of you,
winter,
that leaves a little
frostbite
in the
middle of the night.
And when you wake up
the flowers may be a little
wilted
but they’ll survive.
Just
like
you
will.
And at the end of spring,
the flowers begin to
grow
and stand
taller
and reach for the
sun.
And when
summer comes
and time passes
and you start to see
sunshine
in the days a little more.
You will begin to
see the meaning
behind it all.
The grass is greener
in the summer
and this time it stays that way.
But when Autumn returns
you never forget.
