It’s obvious that Charlotte isn’t pleased with her mother’s words. She straightens up just so, almost as if bracing herself for the fight that’s threatening to occur. She exhales a  huff, arms coming to cross in front of her.

Claire hates when she gets like this, all haughty and self-righteous, because she knows exactly where Charlotte gets it from and that’s herself. She’d be more annoyed if she wasn’t so proud of the fact that her daughter takes more after her than Owen, but that doesn’t mean she can let this conversation go to rest.

Sarah said nothing. Her own smile had vanished long ago, and she had all but given up the pleasantries of this conversation.  Situations like this frustrated her to no end. She understood that this was inconvenient, and how it may cause problems for the  younger woman, but Sarah was good at her job. This was the kind of thing she had been hired for, and if she said that there was no way to move the sick animals with the park tourists rolling around them, then there was no way. Barely concelling a scoff, Sarah turned her eyes to Claire. “The assets are animals. They’re living, breathing, thinking animals. They are just as capable of hiding things as you and I.” Not to mention they were better company, but Sarah kept that to herself as they approached her Jurassic World vehicle. “I’ll drive.”

Senseless chitter-chatter, that’s all Claire was hearing. Even if the animals were as smart as Sarah claimed, that didn’t mean people weren’t failing at doing their job. Maybe it wasn’t Sarah in particular, but someone should have stopped this from becoming a bigger problem than it needed to be. Dealing with sick animals was not her job, her job was to make sure visitors were happy, assets were contained and everything was running smoothly. This was not what she had signed up for. She bristled slightly when Sarah announced she’d be driving, but she didn’t argue. There were some battles she just didn’t feel like wasting her time fighting. ❝ Fine by me. ❞
