i loooove drawing his face
it's been said a million times but i will never get over how toby fox actually attempted to make deltarune shortly after he got the idea for it (from a fever dream, mind you) but then he was like "hm, the scope of this game seems a bit big for my current skills, i think i should make a smaller game as practice" and that smaller game. was fucking undertale
like his "oh let me just figure out this whole making a game thing, little rough draft" was one of the most important and well-loved games of the fucking decade . robert "toby" "don't call me radiation" "radiation" fox, small white dog that you are,
he is an artist âșïž

i literally love saying "ON IT BOSS!!!!!" whenever someone asks me to do something like i'm some sort of henchman. it doesn't matter if they're my boss or not for real even because in the moment they are, and whatever they requested of me i'm on it
Having a job is an awesome way to stay hydrated because you get so bored you start drinking water just for a little excitement
Hot take but I really do think that some of yâall need to consider how/why/when/how often youâre making fun of straight people for being straight
I do it too, Iâm not going to pretend I donât make jokes about the hets, or the down with cis bus, or whatever
But I recently befriended a cis, straight dude and I have watched him be dismissed, degraded, and unambiguously insulted for the perceived âcrimeâ of being straight â all in queer environments where he is allegedly âcompletely welcomeâ and surrounded by âfriendsâ
This guy is not a toxic person! But I have seen him be made to feel so small and like his comfort and safety in those spaces are conditional on his silence and acceptance of being treated like a human dunk zone, and I think that some of yâall have had so much shit from straight/cis people that the second you feel like youâve got an inch, you want to luxuriate in the perceived catharsis of bullying someone whoâ actually âdoesnât deserve it
And until he very, very carefully mentioned to me in private that it makes him feel bad, I didnât even clock that I was involved in doing that, that it had become so instinctive for me to make casual jokes like that, and thatâ well meaning or otherwise âI had been contributing to an environment that made someone I really really like feel like shit
So, I dunno, I think maybe some of yâall should think about that too
Coming back to say that while a lot of the responses to this post have been mainly positive, some folks have an attitude that it should be something that my friendâ or any cis, straight man âshould just be able to get over, because fuck âem, thatâs why, because theyâre in a queer space and they should shut up and accept it, because you suffer as a queer person and they should have to suffer tooâ regardless of whether or not this specific person has done anything to wrong you
Iâm gonna say this point blankâ youâre a tar pit if you think this way
Your suffering does not make you special, you are not granted brand new permissions to be belligerent and cruel because you have been treated poorly, straight people arenât an oppressed class, no, but theyâre people who are entitled to the same amount of basic decency that you, yourself, are entitled to
It feels good when youâve been treated like shit to then go forward and treat other people like shit. Thatâs what youâre admitting. Does it make you feel good to do harm? Are you proud of that? Are you comfortable with being that kind of person? Because I dunno about the rest of youâ but I realized I wasnât, and it turns out itâs pretty fucking easy to change
[Image in the above post is a comment by @justhappytobequeer which reads "There's a weird thing where people consider the most important part of morality to be societal oppression. And then somehow think that being a jerk to someone who's less oppressed is automatically morally ok and good."]
This was what happened to me when I was younger, and I feel the need to emphasize that doing this can hurt other queer folks too.
Before I realized I was ace/aro, I was the âtoken straightâ in an old friend group. These âfriendsâ would constantly belittle and poke fun at me for it. At first I thought it was funny and even joked along with it. But over time, I began to realize that I was the only one that the jokes were aimed at. They never poked fun of each otherâs sexualities. Only mine. I tried to tell myself that they didnât mean it in a bad way, but over time as the jokes kept coming, I just kept feeling worse and worse, and their treatment of me got more vitriolic over time. As far as I was ever aware, I had never done anything to cause this change in treatment, aside from just being cis and straight. I was dismissed for it, excluded from hangouts, pretty much everything that OP described above, and it made me feel so othered among people I was formerly pretty close with.
After I left that group, I genuinely hated queer people. I thought that if that was how I was treated among even people I considered my closest friends, then I couldnât trust any queer folks to not treat me the same way.
And that entire time, I was still queer. I just didnât know it yet. The way I was treated actively put me off from the idea of exploring myself and the possibility of not being straight, and it genuinely made me homophobic for a while.
Iâm not saying youâre evil for making broad jokes. But just be careful with how you treat individual people and how you view them based on gender and sexuality. Whether theyâre cis, straight, both, donât poke fun at them so much. Hell, for all you know, you might be attacking a fellow queer who doesnât realize theyâre queer yet or isnât out of the closet. Donât be so damn harsh on people for something they canât control. If you wouldnât want it done to you, donât do it to them.
This June, I need Gen Z queers to understand that some people are closeted.
I am saying this as a Gen Z queer, before yâall get your guns out to fucking shoot me.
But I need yâall to understand that if someone doesnât give you their government name in a queer space, itâs not because theyâre âmysterious,â and you do not have permission to take it upon yourself to figure out their âreal identityâ and go digging for them online like a private investigator. First, thatâs creepy and a violation of privacy and reasonable boundaries. Second, some of us keep our private and professional lives very separate because we need to keep food on the fucking table and a roof over our heads, and our private life could jeopardize that.
âWhy wonât you tell me about your parents?â âWhy canât I know your real name?â âWhere do you work?â
1.) Not all our parents would bake us a fucking cake when we come out. Some of us are closeted. Surely you understand this? You also do not need to know my parentâs names or occupations; we are both adults. I do not need nor want to mix you and my private life with my parents and my public life.
2.) Trans people do not owe you their dead name or government name
3.) Iâm not telling you for the sake of job security. I am a government fucking caseworker working amidst a fucking lavender panic!
âThereâs no way youâre a different person outside this; youâre still you at your core. What harm is thereââ
No, I am a completely different person. A different person with a different personality and different interests and a different name and presentation. I am a completely different person because I keep this life and my public life private to avoid fracturing 90% of my interpersonal relationships and 100% of my professional ones.
âYouâre not out? But youâre so confident.â
Seeâ thatâs part of the issue. Yâall assume someone is in the closet because they hate themselves or lack self-identity. Some of us know exactly who we are, but need to prioritize financial stability or else our entire life gets exponentially harder immediately.
You meet queer people over the age of 40 and one of the first/earliest questions is âwho knows?â
I need yâall to start bringing that energy. Because itâs not always safe for someone to be out and not everyone is safe to be out around.
There is a misnomer that âthe closetâ inherently means âdoesnât know theyâre queerâ and not âisnât out widely and publicly.â âOutnessâ is often a patchwork.
