How to be much safer from viruses

I saw a post about a tumblr virus going around and I decided to make a post about how to keep you safe while browsing the web. If you follow these steps there is a near-zero chance you will get a virus from just visiting a website, but this cannot protect you from files you download. 

TL;DR: Get chrome, go to settings->advanced settings->plug-ins->click to play->done.

If you don't care to know why it works, you can stop here, if you want to know, or are having some trouble with the steps, continue on.

First get chrome, it's arguably the most secure browser and it is what I am going to be showing you, Mozilla is about as secure, but this is only going to show chrome. You can get it here.

Chrome is almost 100% secure, it has never been hacked, but some plug-ins that you use have been hacked, here is how you can prevent those plug-ins from running without your permission, therefore preventing you from getting hacked:

Open chrome and under the exit button click on the three lines at the top (I don't know what it's called) then settings, scroll to the bottom and click show advanced settings. Scroll down slightly and under Privacy it should say Content Settings, click that, scroll down to where it says Plug-ins. Choose "Click to play". Click done and you're golden.

I’m not going to defend Marklogic. But this sounds so much as the archetype of a failure story:

start by blaming the other contractors

find the newest or less known technology used in the project

point all fingers to it

Long time ago I’ve been in a similar project. Different country, different agencies, different contractors, but exactly the same story. It was in the early days of my career. But what I’ve learned at that time stuck with me and even if today it may sound like a truism, it’s still one of the big lessons: It’s not the technology. It’s the people. Always. And the money.
