âWhy donât you move the date up?â, Elena suggested. âYou guys can do something small, very intimate with only close friends and family. Then, by the time you go on your honeymoon, he would pamper you all the time while you stay all day in the bed or by the poolâ, she chuckled. âOkay, Iâm ready. Letâs go?â
âI suggested getting hitched for probably two months after we got engaged. But heâs got this whole âyou deserve a real weddingâ thing ââ as if I havenât already had one ââ and those tend to require months of planning.â Corinne explains with a shrug. âYeah, letâs go.â
It will be.
What the hell does that mean?
Elena did laugh when Corinne called her bitch. She didnât mean any harm, but then Corinne wasnât that difficult to get to her bad side. âOnly four? Iâm rethinking the situation, and hoping Iâd never get pregnant with tripletsâ, she smirked. âAnyway, would you like my help or not?â
âIâm probably going to end up on bed rest before the wedding, and yet I know asking Nicholas to move the date back is going to make him think Iâm running.â She rolls her eyes with a sigh, moving out of the bedroom and starting down the stairs. âIâm fine. I just need help with packing and moving boxes. Stairs I can handle.â
âTouchĂ©â, Elena almost laughed, but sadness only allowed one shy smile to cross her face. âSheâs probably sleeping tooâ, she smirked. âWould you like some help going downstairs, you seem close to your due alreadyâ
âBitch,â the offense is only half serious at the comment about her due date. âI am nowhere near my due date. I cannot control that Iâm normally skinny as hell, and that triplets make me look nine months pregnant when Iâm only four.â
âSaid the woman whose fiancĂ© is a warlockâ, Elena pointed out with a raised eyebrow. âIâm not walking around on PJâsâ, she mumbled as she walked towards the bathroom and returned just shortly. âWhat about Sadie? Where is she?â
âSaid the woman who isnât defined by the people around her.â Corinne is quick to retort with a roll of blue eyes. She waits for Elena to return and shrugs her shoulders before answering. âHonestly? No idea. Sheâs pretty shitty at answering her phone.â
âThank you for reminding me of how boring my life is without my supernatural friendsâ, Elena stuck her tongue out and then sighed. âFine, I help and youâll explain. Just give me a moment to change my clothesâ
âPlease, Elena, your life is boring with supernatural friends.â Corinne is slow to get back on her feet, shrugging her shoulders. âAlright. No need to look nice. Itâll just be us, Tati is over at a friendâs house for the day.â
Elena knew Corinne well enough to know she was hiding something from her. âWhen it happened? I have really nothing to do this afternoonâ, she blinked innocently, even though Corinne seemed like not into explaining it at all.Â
âJust because you have nothing to do with your life, does not mean that I have nothing to do today.â Corinne points out with a roll of her eyes. âI need help packing up my house and Nicholas is at work and doesnât know how to pack anyways. Come help me, and Iâll explain.â
âThe other way around? What do you mean, Corinne?â, Elena asked, puzzled by that information. âThis has happenned before?â, she put herself together. She nodded, knowing Nicholas, Dean and Sam could figure out what was going on, but again, Corinne got her confused. âI donât have any angel friendâ
Oh. Corinne had assumed that Elena would have remembered everything, but apparently she was wrong. âYeah, itâs happened in a similar way before. Itâs a long story, honestly.â Code for she didnât want to have to explain it. âAngel friend? ââ Itâs a joke. Nevermind.â
âI canât just walk in their lifesâ, Elena said and brought her knees close to her chest. âDamon almost fed on me, and Stefan⊠He looked at me as if I was a complete stranger. What am I suppose to do when all my friends donât remember of me and I donât even know where to start to fix it?â
âCaroline had this same freak out when things were the other way around.â Corinne offers her, hoping that sheâll find the sentiment to be comforting. âIâll talk to Nicholas and the Winchesters and see what they can do about it. Whereâs your angel friend?â
Elena sat up and brushed some locks of her hair behind her ears. âWhy should I be up? They⊠They donât remember of meâ, she said with a weak shrug. âStefan⊠Damonâ, her voice trembled a bit. âI bet even Caroline wonât remember and I canât do nothing to change itâ
Thereâs a quiet sigh that leaves from her lips as she moves across the room and sits down on the opposite end of the bed, listening to the mattress squeak under her weight. âWell, call me crazy, but I donât think laying around in bed is going to make anything better for you.â
Elena whimpered and curled into herself as she heard the sound of her door opening. âOuchâ, she mumbled underneath the blanket and pulled it away from her face. âNo⊠I want to stay here indefinitelyâ
âToo bad, so sad. Donât make me come over there and sit on you, because my fat ass will actually crush you.â She half-threatens, taking a few steps into the room, crossing her arms.
Elena could hear Corinne downstairs and groaned to herself. Where was Jeremy when she needed him to distract people? If only she still had vampire speed, sheâd run away and wonât let anyone bother her. She didnât answer her, instead she pulled the covers over her and hoped Corinne would leave her alone.
When she didnât hear any sort of vocal response, Corinne rolled her eyes to herself before she trudged up the stairs, hand supporting her swollen belly. âCâmon, Elena,â she speaks again as she opens up the door to her bedroom, grabbing a decorative pillow off the floor and throwing it at the younger girl. âRise and shine. Itâs practically afternoon.â
Fairly close, actually.Â
Ah, the disappointment is fresh.
I finally found a place I like.
Tell me itâs somewhere far, far away.
Elena didnât sleep the entire night, rethinking of her meetings with Stefan and Damon. Neither of the Salvatores remembered of her, and she was afraid neither Tyler or Caroline would as well. Most of all, she was worried of Damon lashing out like old times. Elena needed to convince Stefan of her story, if only Stefan believed her, he could help on convincing Damon as well⊠He had developed so much through the years, Elena knew she wouldnât be able to handle a dark and reckless Damon all over again.Â
âElena!â The blonde calls out, fist knocking on the door three times before Corinne lets herself into the house uninvited. âRise and shine, kiddo. Iâm putting your ass to work.â
Really? Thatâs great, Corinne.
Yeah, sure. Itâs kind of old news.
