Reason and Death Walk Into an Empyrea
Commission | Hello My Dearest Student
“A scholar’s work is never done. Even I don’t know everything,” Anaxagoras knew far more than many others upon Amphoreus ever would, the truth of their world and its endlessly repeating lifespan. But even he was not omnipotent, though he’s sure that he has proclaimed that at least once before, “I wish I had answers for you, but I simply don’t. My research is not yet done on the fact of my existence. Nor on many other things, but that is another matter entirely.”
Things to do outside… ah, Castorice was a busy girl wasn’t she? A smart girl, though she had never stood out much in their class sessions to him. Quiet, always keeping a slight distance from other people. Becoming the Demigod of Death…
She had surely only become even more isolated. He can’t help but wonder; did she leave because she was lonely?
The scholar sighs softly, staring down at his transparent right hand, at the bright red crystal embedded within it. He had long been a brilliant alchemist and scholar, as his body and life had slowly deteriorated around him, but his knowledge and passions never seemed to be acknowledged, thrown aside as nothing more than a blasphemer and heretic. If anyone knew anything about being lonely, it was him. Not as if he’d ever admit that. As far as the world knew, he was simply a strange and mad scientist who cared more for his work than other people. (Though that wasn’t exactly a lie sometimes.)
“I don’t see why you are surprised that I, Anaxagoras of the Grove of Epiphany, of all people would find a way to transcend death,” He chuckles softly to himself, though his singular eye does not seem to bear its usual confidence, “I’m an unparalleled genius after all.”
Even after death , he was still the same Anaxa , not even losing his physical body would be enough to stop him from chasing answers , should she be surprised ? that if anyone , it would be him to transcend death and stand before her , even if it defies everything she knows , everything she rules over ? " I see , perhaps a question like this is better left unanswered for the time being , it may just cause more confusion . . . "
loneliness . . . could have been a contributing factor , to finally have that feeling fade , only to return back to it . . . leaves you with a longing feeling , especially when you finally have the ability to change it .
as he spoke , boasting that same usual confidence , she could see it , the change in his demeanor , almost as if he didn't believe in the words he spoke , some of them , sure . . . but specific ones didn't carry the same weight they did , was something eating away at him ? would it be rude to ask ? she wasn't sure what she should say .
" . . . You're right , professor , I should've known it would be you . " a smile overtook her face , pretending as if she hadn't noticed , as if nothing had changed , the matter at hand should come first , they can begin speaking more as they go about things here . " A question you might have the answer to . . . what exactly is it that happened here ? "
