one of the key things to understand about glenn is that he’s as much of an asshole as felix is in canon, if not more of one a great deal of the time, but he has enough charm and charisma that people can gloss over it and oftentimes do
also he’s a natural leader. also he has a short temper. also his one soft spot is his little brother. also he gets into fights impressively frequently.

❛ I HAD NOT EXPECTED TO SEE YOU HERE , MY FRIEND . ❜ in a different circumstance this greeting would be jovial , even gleeful . but here seeing him on the battlefield in such a state brings an entirely different emotion within the elder . there is a graveness to his words , a gentle ache within his chest as gaze rests on his old friend .
HE HAD MOURNED HIM , HE HAD GRIEVED HIM & had allowed himself to move on from the heavy weight that is losing one so close to you . he had never dreamed of seeing him again nor in this fashion . he cannot decide if he’s happy with this outcome yet or if he’d wished glenn had died in duscur all those years ago . ❛ what’s with the look ? ❜ he asks & there’s a melancholy playfulness in his words , deciding that perhaps humor will lift the heaviness in his heart . ❛ forgotten your old friend ? glenn , i’m hurt . ❜

it’s / confusing? overwhelming. strange and odd and too much not enough where and what when and who ———— who? who are ( ... ) you? the mirror the reflection the / man. wait, the man? pause. or stop? or continue. the conceptualization of the self is fragmented and shattered and crumbling and his gaze / turns. settles.
he doesn’t know what he looks like. is that strange? perhaps. perhaps. except he knows precisely what he looks like a version of what he looks like scattered images thoughts memories that boy that man that ———— not this one. who / what a circular line of thought. how useless. a rusted weapon. a dulled and shattered blade.

THERE’S A FONDNESS IN THE ELDER’S EYES , a look of mixed endearment & amusement . he laughs lightly & shakes his head . ❛ correct me if i’m wrong but i don’t believe preparing food is one of the desired skills of knighthood . but if you insist i doubt i can do much to sway you . ❜ he’s aware of glenn’s tendency to be unrelenting once he’s set his mind to something . not even christophe’s incurable charm could change his mind . ❛ can at least count on you to us for dinner ? i believe we’re meant to be making one of your favorites . ❜ he flashes another smile . maybe he can find some use for his effortless charm .

THE ASPIRING KNIGHT MAKES AN OVERDRAMATIC POUT in response to the others words . ❛ you wound me , good sir . ❜ the hand that had rested on the glenn’s shoulder clutching his heart in order to feign said wound he’d just spoken of . ❛ can’t you shed a little bit of that attitude & help your old friend ? ❜ he chooses to ignore the comment about the girl in question . best to keep appearances he thinks .
❝ when that old friend is trying to foist off kitchen duty onto me? ❞ he pretends to consider it for a moment / and then another / before rolling his eyes rather at length. ❝ no. do it yourself. it’ll help you in your quest for knighthood, after all, ❞ there’s heavy handed mirth that glimmers in his voice and in the lift of his brow. hardly anything pointedly mean spirited, but immovable and perhaps, in a small measure, enjoying this.

anyways glenn loved ingrid in the sense of adoring and treasuring her and wasn’t In Love with her yet considering she was. 13 when he died. he probably would have if the whole dying this didn’t happen. he may have kissed some people in his teen years. maybe. ( he absolutely did )

a verse where glenn didn’t die would probably result in him simply not dying during the tragedy of duscur and being a survivor among a pile of corpses and being taken by those who slither in the dark for Reasons Unbeknownst to Me because his honor and his loyalty to his family would demand that he return to his family unless literally unable to —— anyways, they probably tortured and effectively brainwashed him to become a weapon for their using considering his arguably prodigious talents and he? idk, became something akin to the death knight fighting in their stead. similar, but not quite, i can’t figure it out at the moment.
but uh. something something he sees felix for the first time in years and has a breakdown and is he recruitable? questionable. does he actually die in the end? probably !! but we’ll see it’s just. deeply unhappy and not okay and that’s all you gotta know about it rly
