The latest recording project has been to take old songs and recycle them.
I wrote ‘Sage in a Tree’ two decades ago and included it in my EP ‘Recycle’.
It was fascinating to revisit old songs and see if they still held emotion for me. I added an outro to ‘Sage in a tree’ and found this song still expresses emotion in a new context.
Thank you to the Department of Conservation, New Zealand, for the use of their Bellbird audio recording which I have included at the end of the song.
Here is a beautiful kōauau made by Brian Flintoff for my post grad degree at ARA that I completed in 2022. I just adore it and it is featuring in one or two of my original songs I am writing to be released this year.
