Normalize putting your pronouns in your bio
If everyone does it, people will stop questioning why people do it and it will be seen as normal and people will get used to it which is a good thing.
Trans individuals (and non-cis individuals) will not have to feel obligated to explain their gender and can instead just point to the bio.
The more we do it the more commonplace it becomes and it’s generally just better for everyone.
Saying only trans people can put their pronouns in their bio harms the many other individuals with other genders/no genders. You hurt nonbinary, genderless, androgynous, agender, genderfluid, genderflux, gendervariant, genderqueer, intersex etc. people who are not trans by taking that ability away from them.
HOWEVER!!!! NO ONE should be required to put their gender, pronouns, or sexuality in their bios.
So like, normalize putting pronouns in your bio but also respect people who don’t give away all their personal details. And please for the love of beans stop getting angry when a tumblr person you follow turns out to be something you weren’t expecting if they aren’t actively hurting or harming anyone. It’s not right to assume you know everything about a person and then getting surprised when they’re not the exact way you imagined.
And yes, you are perfectly free to unfollow people if you find out they’re not what you expected. It’s your blog. You can do what you want. But don’t harass people if that kind of thing happens.
This might be tumblr dot hellscape but we still have to be respectful.
All this by the way absolutely does not condone people like terfs and nazis and facists and homophibes and republicans and racists and shit who basically do shit deliberately to hurt people so like they’re excluded from the concept of civility and respect because fuck them.
So yeah anyways TLDR: normalize pronouns in bios cause it’s good for everyone, but also respect people’s choices to omit that info if they want and also fuck terfs and nazis, fascists and homophobes, republicans and racists for good measure.
