OPEN TO : anyone ! CONNECTION : strangers/ acquaintances. bonus points if ur muse is sadistic. PLOT : wolf girl & black prince and the netflix show o2o … chaehwa claims she’s dating ur muse but turns out your muse is really popular and she’s dug herself a grave.
‘ i’m so sorry for … …… ’ chaehwa trails off, wincing as the specific memory came to mind. that is : some random girl running up to her and yelling, THE BOTH OF YOU ARE DATING? chaehwa had been thoroughly confused and whipped around to see if the rando was talking to her or someone behind her —— and promptly went white as a sheet when she realised it was the same person she had pointed out in a picture, and claimed to be dating.
how did rumours spread so fast ! why did rumours spread so fast ? though, maybe she should’ve paid more attention to gossip after all —— then she would’ve known the other was desired by, like, over half the student body. jesus. chaehwa could not keep up.
‘ i didn’t even know you were in my class ! ’ she finds herself trying to explain. ‘ or that the whole wide world was thirsting for you ! but please, i beg, don’t break up with me now —— then everyone would know i was a liar and i’d never live it down ! just a little while longer, please ? i can’t pay you but i could … …… um, do your homework ? provide hilarious critique of movies ? just, please ! ’
a dating scandal. well, that was certainly one daehyun hadn’t gotten before.
he gazes down at the girl, steely and unwavering. she’s cute, at least---he had to give her that. big eyes, quivering lip, all but on her knees begging him not to expose her little lie. and while he had never considered himself a weak man, a good bribe could get anyone if the cards were right.
“ how can i break up with someone i’m not even dating ? ” while his voice is quiet enough that only the two of them can hear, part of him relishes in the slight panic he sees in her eyes. the fact that he could dismantle the entire image this stranger had built for herself was almost enough to make him power trip. however, the idea of extending his control past a moment and into what could very well be the distant future was more tempting than instant gratification. a long con was always more fun.
while this had started as her game, it was quickly morphing into one where he had the upper hand.
“ your offers kind of suck. no offense. i’d be a lot more inclined to go along with this if your bribes weren’t childish. ” he takes a glance down at his phone. texts were beginning to pour in about his new girlfriend, and his lips began to pull up into a cheshire grin. shoving the device back into his pocket, he holds his now free hand out to her in offering, expectantly wiggling his fingers.
“ let’s walk and talk. if you can come up with something less pathetic than doing my homework or talking about things i don’t care about in the ten minute walk to my class then i’ll consider it. if not i’m texting all of those people back and telling them i have no idea who you are. ”
“Summer has been consuming my energy in the most ruthless way.”
— Virginia Woolf, from a diary entry c. June 1927 featured in “Diaries,”
