ANYWAY.

At first, (tbh i still laugh at this private thread, it’s beautiful, esp when declan walked in the door to the office, save him) Takumi wasn’t sure what to think of Declan aside than thinking that the virtuoso was… Bizarre, but particularly way too chill with what was going on even before the mutual killing game was announced. But he never saw Declan as a threat honestly, just some (a bit too) chill dude. Didn’t talk to him much either. However when Takumi and the squad found Eliana’s body and Declan was greatly upset, it was then Takumi swore to himself he would do his best to catch the killer, even tho the jeweler did not know the screamer at all. And the main reason Takumi gave the note to Declan is because he himself isn’t good at English, only managed to read Declan’s name and some other words, thus giving it to the musician was the best option. But then. The Mistrial™ occurred. Afterwards, the jeweler wasn’t sure to talk to Declan because the virtuoso wasn’t in a good place at all, so he minded his own business, but Takumi did hope that Declan would hopefully find out the truth. Tho Takumi remained unaware until ch5 trial (what with Seval lying to him about the injuries before their death, when he asked), to which he was just ‘oh. Oh well. guess they actually deserved that.’ though details were not discussed at all as far as i recalled because I asked Oz wtf actually happened after we went in endgame mode :v.

But anyway tldr; Takumi didn’t have much of a opinion of Declan but it’s in a positive zone, and he does hope that Declan gets better eventually, because the virtuoso seriously deserved better than what occurred.

Honestly Declan didn’t have much of an opinion on Jiro for most of the game? He felt sorry for him for getting his eyes taken away, but overall was just neutral. He thought Jiro was competent in trials so that’s cool, but nothing much.In their argument in the last trial, his overall opinion didn’t change because he knows that Jiro’s justified in being sad over losing someone he cared about, but he’s too mad about everything to prioritize being a decent person over screaming constantly. Sorry Jiro, he’s still really upset over everything. he’s not the most sympathetic guy around.

tldr: Declan doesn’t really care about Jiro, but thinks he’s competent at least.

DID I MISS THE STAR MEME (basil)

ohHh boy here we go.

So first impression, Declan liked Felix as much as he can like a stranger, which isn’t very much but it’s something. He didn’t trust them or anything but figured he wouldn’t mind hanging around them to waste time.So they hung out more and got to be better buddies, nice. Eliana seemed to like Felix too and they were kind of looking out for her, so that made Declan’s opinion substantially better instantly and led to a modicum of trust, even. Which trust was unrelated to making out honestly, Declan just doesn’t give a fuck but yeah. After that, Declan got the impression Felix actually really liked him, so he put forth effort to try and like them back. Like, Declan can’t just like someone on accident, he has to force himself to feel for a bit until it feels natural, ya kno. He’s a weird strawberry.Then after Eliana’s death, Felix was pretty much the only person left that Declan trusted at all, so he kind of gravitated around them like a sad lonely puppy. A sad lonely puppy who can only focus on revenge. shovel based revenge.But along with that came doubt! since Seval said that whoever told Declan they were the murderer was suspicious bc of stuff he heard from Eriko. so Declan was like “huh maybe I can’t trust the guy who admitted to being a literal mercenary”. So he left Seval a note about it like “check it out, you know more than me”. tadah.So by the last trial Declan already had his doubts, and at Felix’s reveal Declan was just. fuck. yeah, but.. fuck.Then entering the handy dandy Nihilism Zone, he decided nothing matters, including Felix. He’s like.. “it sure would have been nice if you ended up not being a shady asshole, but now that you are I don’t give a fuck I just don’t.”

tldr: Declan actually genuinely liked Felix somewhere in there, but in the end Declan’s only friend is the void

Honestly since they first met Declan thought Kazumi was chill and easy to get along with, and that opinion never really changed too much ngl. When they were roomies, Declan still didn’t trust Kazumi very much, though after they didn’t do anything weird be became.. vaguely more tolerant to them being there. After Eliana died, Kazumi was like contesting the point for living person that Declan liked most. In the trial Declan just.. wants it to be over so Kazumi can go home and be happier.. He feels bad for them...

tldr: Kazumi is good soft and shaped like a friend

uh hmm Declan never actually got to talk to Nagisa. mostly his opinion was “they sure do exist and freak out a lot”, especially in the last trial where he just kind of feels bad for them, less because he really cares and more out of.. give Nagisa a break. pls. 

aha sorry that he doesn’t have much to say. tldr he’s totally indifferent and kind of pities them for the sheer amount of bullshit they’ve been put through.

From their first encounter in the costume room, he thought she was pleasant enough, but didn’t really care about her that much. After the haunted house he wanted to avoid her on account of “she means well but might snap my spin on accident”.Now in the last trial he feels kind of bad for her but is still largely unopinionated. “sucks you got like beat up but you’ll be up and at ‘em later so...... cool.”

So tldr he’s kind of indifferent. Thinks she’s nice, wouldn’t actively seek out hanging but with her or anything though. a peaceful coexistence.

Honestly Declan didn’t get to interact with Takumi much... but here we go

When they first met, Declan thought he was kind of irritating and loud. that was, like, chapter 1 from one encounter. But in trials he decided Takumi was okay, like, ‘this guy seems competent, I guess, he’s fine’.His thoughts on everyone kind of.. broke down when Eliana died. Prior relations were tossed out a metaphorical window for most people to just numbness. Though Takumi got vaguely on Declan’s good side when he brought him that note Eliana wrote. like, thanks dude sorry I cried in front of youAnd in the last trial he’s like ‘yeah, good. embrace the void with me pal’. Like, everyone who also wasn’t really reacting to Miho got some thumbs up emojis from Declan.

So tldr Declan was pretty unopinionated the whole time, but Takumi’s erring a wee bit on the side of positivity

Wow, Miho was not holding back at all, was he? Geez, some of that hit hard. Declan hasn’t been in the best of sorts for a while, so kicking at the unstable foundations of this crumbling tower isn’t helping.

“<You fucking…>”

Declan has barely responded to the response slung so venomously at him before two other people are already trying to attack Miho- and failing, might I add. Because a certain former-mercenary foreigner has promptly dealt with them

Geez. That was brutal. And the person doing the act isn’t helping either. Though Declan’s anger moments ago had been startled out of action, this was enough to refuel him.

“<God fucking damn it, so much for having any friends by the end of this! Haha, maybe it was better before I even tried letting people get along with me! Jesus fucking christ, this is a mess! There’s no point to any of this!>”

He breathes as if to calm himself down, but when he starts talking again he’s shouting just like before, still in English too. He can’t take the time to translate.

“<Fuck you ‘Basil Krasnoff’, so much for wanting to change your ways, huh? To escape that life? So much for the fucking sob story you told me. To think I even tried to care about you makes me sick.>”

Had he believed what Basil said before? Not really. That’s why he was able to leave Seval the note in the first place; He hadn’t really trusted Basil at all after that, but at the time he honestly didn’t give a fuck. He does that a lot and this time he’s not better off for it.

Declan takes a breath again, putting a hand over his face. He just stands there before… laughing? Is he snickering?

“<God, it’s so.. sad.”>“

What’s that? He uncovers his face, just grinning now.

"Ahaha, <It’s so sad! You two really think any of this matters?>”

He then switches to Japanese, calm enough to make sure everyone can fully understand what he’s saying.

“You want to rile us up, right? To make us all flip out before you get some dramatic exit, huh? Thinking you can control us even when you have clearly lost?”

Declan sighs, crossing his arms with a shrug.

“It is pathetic. It just proves how pathetic you are.”

He looks at the two people on the floor, then around the room. Everyone seems… pretty upset. It makes sense, since everyone seems to have fallen for the liar of a friend that Kenji was.

“Do not get upset over this waste of life. We just need to vote and watch him die. The power is in our hands here, not his, no matter what he says. Death is final, death is the end, and in death the pitiable man named Miho Nagashiro will be nothing but dirt in the ground and an unpleasant but distant memory for us all. You will be forgotten. In the end, everything is, but in all of humanities attempts to carve out some lasting relevancy for themselves, doing so at the expense of other’s lives is just disgusting and sad.”

“It is all just exposition until curtain call, if that flower language appeals to you.”

Besides, the worst that could happen is Miho just turns his attack dog over there against everyone and we all die, but Declan assumes that if there was a chance of that happening was possible, it would have already happened. Unless he plans on killing everyone after he gets some megalomaniacal tirade over with first. At which everyone will just die, and that can’t be helped. So he won’t bother worrying about it.

“I will not let your hollow words affect me. Everything you have said is just a waste of breath. I know myself better than you do, I will not let your petty attempts to cause some kind of 'despair’ in me work.”

He grins one last time with another sigh,

“You might say I have no chance of truly 'living’, but which of us is going to be walking out of this room, Miho?”

Yeah, he had basically described Kenji there. It was intentional, really. He never liked or trusted Kenji, which makes what happens next… not that interesting to him. Or, rather, Declan doesn't look interested. The inner workings of his mind are a mystery as always, but his expression is as blank as ever.

“Great.”

Ace commentary as always, my man!

“This is going to get annoying fast, I can feel it. Can we just vote and kill you already or what.”

Lots of ideas are going around, that’s good. Along with evidence he hadn’t known about, so that’s double as good.

The files had been more or less read, which is good to get everyone on the same page, at least.

“Would not ‘wolf in sheep’s clothing’ imply not just that the mastermind is one of us, but that the mastermind is someone everyone trusts? Someone they do not want to suspect. The mockingbird thing tells they are a good actor, so pretending to be everyone’s 'friend’ would not be too hard. Would looking at talents help? Someone with an acting talent could pull it off.”

Declan listens quietly to the reading of Basil’s exact file, not really caring that much. Hey, seems like they have that in common, haha.

As for what Jiro says about the fake names and talents, Declan comments,

“I could see if vaguely, but I know I do not fit the pattern. Plus the mastermind is the worst liar of all, that would make them a kind of hypocrite, right?”

Declan barely knows where Shibuya is from memory alone, so he doesn’t have much to add to that lead. Mutilated body, though, yikes. He quietly wonders if it’s eyes were missing.
