1.1 Describe the industries within the Creative Media sector
There are many different industries within the creative media sector, the main ones out thoughts jump too are obviously Film, Television, Animation, Games, Visual Effects. but you might not think about the other side like books, and magazines
1.2 Describe cross-industry ownership in the Creative Media sector
This is where one or more people own businesses throughout the industry that do different things, for example this could include Television, Film, Radio, Magazines, Books, Music, Video Games, and others.
1.3 Explain the relevant relationships between a range of industries within the Creative Media sector
Within the creative media sector this is pretty important, as it can help get you more known, let’s take the gaming industry for example. without a publisher a game might not get as well known as it could, as the publisher takes care of the distribution and advertising of a product, if you go with an advertising agency that specializes in this field they’re able to target the people you’re aiming your game at, but advertising it on websites that relate, so for example if your game is scifi then it will add it to scifi websites.
There are many more within this industry.
2.1 Describe the stages of a specific Creative Media project life cycle
So with the architectural visualization field we need to take a project in steps, this provides a clean and efficient workflow for us to follow. So first off you need plans to work from, this makes sure you get it to exactly how a client wants their design, so we wait for them to send in a CAD file, once we receive it we need to study it, understand the details, read the specification the client has added to the drawing, then make notes. Once that’s done we make it suitable for our 3D program, this would be Lightwave, once that’s done we import the cad files, and line them up in 3 dimensions, front back and sides, as this gives us a basic vision of what needs to be done. Once that’s set up we start the modelling process, following the CAD Outlines. Once the modelling is done we then need to focus on making the scene look real, so we import it into Layout, which is the program that handles the lighting for our scene, once that’s to standard we render it out then add it to Photoshop for some final details, like things we didn’t include in 3d to speed up render time, then it get’s sent to the client and we wait for feedback.
2.2 Explain and justify resources required for a specific project
For example say you need to take photos of a site for a client
So obviously, you need to have a camera, It’s probably best to have a decent camera, preferably a DSLR as you’re able to get HD Photos, this is important if the client want you to composite your 3d model into a real life photo as you wouldn’t want a low quality photo in the final product, but say if the client was after an Aerial view, you’d nee a camera drone, so you’d hire someone with it to take the photos for you, this is good as it’s not as expensive as getting your own drone, and the people know what they’re doing so they won’t mess anything up.
3.1 Describe the vision, mission and values of a specific Creative Media organisation
Let’s take the company I work for Digitalcrush as an example, what we want to do is provide clients with a clear vision of what they’re product will look like before it’s built in the real world, we like to have a solid, good quality visual that can be used for both design and advertising,
3.2 Describe how a specific Creative Media organisation is funded, governed and regulated
So I will use Digitalcrush as an example again.
I believe our main funds are through clientele, they pay us for our hours spend on a job + wages, meaning we charge them mainly for our time, this is quite a common way of doing things in the creative media industry, as then you’re getting a fair price for what you’re doing.
3.3 Explain the role of a specific team within the organisation
In Digitalcrush, we don’t really have teams, as there is only 5 of us, everyone does pretty much the same jobs, apart from the directors, which have a little more to worry about, like clientele and finance and with the exception of me that’s experimenting with new software, like Unreal Engine 4
3.4 Explain the relationship between the specific team and others within the organisation
Well the main thing we need in our team is communication, we all need to talk about jobs and communicate to make sure everyone is on the same page, this is important as we need everyone to be able to understand a job easily, for the switch over of a job with someone else in the office.
4.1 Explain the individual roles within a specific team
Directors are in charge of the behind the scenes of the company, they make it work by handling finance, and clientele, they’re also in charge of talking to the clients to find out exactly what they want.
the rest of us do the standard job, like modelling, lighting and Photoshop, with the exception of me who is learning how to use Unreal Engine 4 for our Architectural Visualizations.
4.2 Explain their responsibilities and outputs within a specific project life cycle
We’re responsible for getting our jobs done with in a fast and efficient manner, modelling with speed and detail, and not slacking, the directors are in charge of informing clients on how a jobs going and how far the project has come along.
4.3 Describe examples of interdependence between team members
So where I work we’re dependent on certain things, this would be the same around many companies, for example, vfx a shot can’t really be done without the footage for the movie, and it’s the same at Digitalcrush, we can’t get a job completed without certain things, for example we can’t do anything without any sort of drawing or plan, preferably CAD plans, or PDF. this is needed if the client wants us to get the building exactly to how they want it to look, another thing could be photographs, so if a client needs a visual in the real world we need to composite it, so they need to send us a photo of the site, if they can’t do it someone from work will go to the site and take pictures, so we have to receive them off him, It’s important for people/teams to coordinate them selves with in the company.
