With Diwali around the corner, everyone seems have to have gotten into a cleaning and decorating spree. We can see lights being put up outside homes, chatter starting on what to wear, and the air is starting to smell like dessert.Â
Hence, weâre dedicating this weekâs blog to LOW-BUDGET, EASY TO DO, Decor. Whether youâre a college student bunking with a friend or a family living with your great-grandchildren, youâll enjoy using some of these tips to create a Diwali Friendly Space in your HOME.

2. Make your own CANDLE!
Candle making is a fun activity! You can spend a nice afternoon with your children making candles for your own home. Itâs a nice way to bond during festivities and, itâs super easy!Â
Hereâs what youâll need:
Candle Moulds. 2 small and 1 large.
A really long Wick.
Candle Wax, preferably uncoloured.
Some nice smelling Essential Oils.
Dried or pressed Flowers or dried Fruit Slices.
A pair of Tweezers.Â
and finally, a Bowl and a Wooden Spoon.Â
Hereâs what youâll need to do:
Melt some wax in a bowl and add a few drops of essential oil (enough to make the scent last) and mix it throughly with a wooden spoon.
Take two candle moulds and position the wick in the centre. Take the scented wax mixture, hold the wick and pour the wax into the candle moulds. Allow it to set and leave the wick long for now.
Then, take this candle and place it into a larger candle mould. Arrange the flowers and fruits in a decorative pattern between the mould and the outer part of the candle. Pour some of the remaining wax to fill larger mould halfway keeping the wick long, and then place some more decorations. Allow to set for a few more minutes before filling the rest with wax. If any pressed flowers, twigs or fruit bits float to the top, patiently remove them with tweezers.Â
Allow your candle to cool completely and remove the candle from mould.
Voila!! Your Botanical Candle is ready!

Blue
Nature is so inspiring. While I sit here, in Maldives, and write this blog, I am surrounded by at least 7 shades of blue. Teal, Sea Green, Navy, Turquoise, Sea Blue, Royal. And some of them, I canât even name.Â
Itâs paradise. An artistâs palate. Soothing and calming. And I can swear that every day I wake up, I see new, unique and different shades of BLUE. It really makes me wonder, that God truly a master of creation, and if we were to just take his inspiration, our Homes would be like little pieces of art, isnât it?
According to research, Blue is known to be a colour that reflects reliability and responsibility. Itâs also a colour that seeks tranquility and peace, promoting both mental and physical relaxation.Â
Ever wonder why we feel so relaxed when we are lying on our backs staring at a clouded sky?Â
Well, Blue is known to reduce stress, create a sense of calmness and drifts us into a state of zen. The sea and sky both have that effect on people because of the colour they reflect.Â
Hereâs how you can use Blue and the power to Nature to decorate your home.Â
1. Texturize:
Add textures to your wall, curtains, ceilings or other accessories in your home. You can use various forms of lighting to create textures on walls. The light from in the sun, against the sea bed creates a Geometric Design which adds a quirky texture.
Use this concept and create your own TEXTURISED WALL.Â

2. Depth
Paint a wall using an ombrĂ© effect. It creates depth and highlights the most appropriate angles of a room to make the space look bigger and brighter.Â
Go from LIGHT TO DARKÂ or vice versa, depending on the size and requirement, to give your bedroom a more open and free vibe.Â
P.S. it is believed that the paler the blue, the more freedom we feel!
3. Tranquility
Use blue in your homes to promote easy communication, peace and power. Blueâs elements and strong and can have a positive effect on families.
RELEASE stress levels, and ENHANCE emotional stability by sectioning out an area in your home and using shades of blue, which can be made in your peace corner.Â

Letâs fill it up.
What is one of the biggest problems Houses face after the completion of its a design and styling?Â
Well! Theyâre usually full of furniture but completely deprived of anything personal. Curtains need to be bought, lights need to be installed, pretty tea-cups need to be set up on a dining table and most of all the boring White Walls of the house need to be filled with paintings, wallpaper, artwork or anything else your heart desires.Â
This is what makes a âHouseâ, a âHomeâ
Well, weâre dedicating this weekâs blog to those who are just about to move into your New Home or are looking to Re-Decorate their office. These ideas will be perfect for those who want something with an edge.Â
1. Keep it Alive:
Art is one of the best ways to personalise your walls. You can choose a travel destination you like and create a montage of images, or perhaps paint a quote of your favourite chef and let that inspire you and your palate. Although if youâre looking for something for your child, this will BLOW YOUR MIND!Â
Create a LIVE space with help of Wall Art where he can play with his favourite toy. It will keep his mind active, inspired and occupied. The Wall Art here can be used interactively for a childâs development and it also adds a certain liveliness to the room because of the use of bright colours and illustrations.
2. Hang âem:Â
Instead of framing your pictures, hang âem up with the help of threads or chains. They add layers to your wall and the shadows work with the wall by keeping it looking active.Â
Everyone loves nostalgia. We Indians are suckers for it. Black and White Images make the newest of pictures look nostalgic. Add some innovative lighting to it, and see how the wall starts telling stories.Â
3. Humour your Belly:Â
Office Decor can be quite boring. Try pepping up your office common area or pantry with humorous Quotes Frames and Bright Colours. You can use unique combinations such as Grey and Green for fresh look or White and Blue to add a Santorini vibe.Â
Itâs great for employees to have a common area which is more relaxing and soothing, aiding in releasing some of their stress.
Humour is known to be a mood lifter. Add some doodles and hilarious illustrations on the Quote Frames so that people have something silly and funny to bond over.Â

De-cluttering Diet
With Gandhi Jayanti just round the corner, we thought it would be a great idea to dedicate todayâs Blog to the âFather of our Nationâ and his beliefs. Gandhiji, as he was fondly called, always believed in an uncluttered and simple environment. He strongly believed that a âcluttered place always leads to a cluttered mind.â His philosophy was pretty straightforward;
ââŠlive simply, so that others may simply live.â
The amount of stress, busyness and lack of balance that many people experience these days has become a cause for concern. De-cluttering is about taking charge of our lives again and simplifying it to the fullest. Even Science discourages living in a clutter since it can have massive negative effects on your brain.
If you thing that clutter is weighing you down and hampering your speed, altering your thoughts and negatively impacting your life, here is a quick of list of 5 things that you need to discard immediately to de-clutter your
1. Old Magazines, Bills and Receipts: If you arenât going to need them any longer, itâs time to part. Not everything old is gold.
2. Clothes: If you havenât worn them in the past year, chances are you wonât wear them any longer. Either discard them or give them to someone needy.
3. Medicines: Take a look at your medicine box and clear out drugs that have expired or the ones that you no longer use.
4. Makeup & Perfumes: Go through your beauty cabinet and get rid of makeup and perfumes thatâs too old or that you donât use. Yes, just like medicines, makeup also expires.
5. Notebooks: There are usually a lot of half used notebooks lying around the house. Take the unused pages out and make yourself a usable notepad that can be utilized to jot down info, discard the pages, which are used, if you donât require them.

Colour It Right
Everyone has a favourite colour, but do you know what effect that colour has on you? Is it enabling you to be a social person or making you more anxious? Is your favourite colour leaving a positive or negative impact?Â
Letâs decode the power of these colours to see which colours are best suited for your home.
Bedroom: For your bedroom, always use cool tones like Light Pink, Cream, Green, Blue or Lavender. These enable you to remain calm and relaxed. Â It is believed that darker hues tend to make a person more hyper and aggressive.
Living Room: Warm tones like Reds, Yellows, and Oranges, and earth tones like Brown and Beige work well in your Living Room because they allow you to encourage conversation. These colours make you feel the warmth and the connection with the other people.Â
Bathroom: Shades of Blue, Lilac, White and Green can be used for the bathroom since they tend to put a person at ease. It is said that if you donât wear a particular colour, you should not paint your bathroom with that colour, as it will always make you feel unsatisfied with the way you look.
Kitchen: Warm tones like Orange and Red are suggested for a kitchen. These tones aid in digestion and cause stimulation of appetite and promote sociable and lively feelings.
