Awe thank you! Your Muse was my first fic baby and it’s my longest. I do have chapter 19 written and part of chapter 20 done. I wanted to write them together to make sure I get the ending of the story right. I would love to finish it and have every intention too but I’m not sure when that would be. I had a very busy 2019 and since then I haven’t really had the time or the energy to write. I really really really miss it and hope to find the time to finish it soon. Thanks so much for reading!

Bright Lights Preview — Luck, Lights, Love

Here’s a preview of my piece for @yoimusicalzine <3 

I had so much fun brainstorming for this fic and the opportunity to combine my two favourite loves: YOI & Musicals.

All proceeds will go to The Trevor Project that provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer & questioning (LGBTQ) young people under 25. Preorders are open until June 15th!

“Oh my god,” Yuuri breathed, his face draining of colour. “You’re Victor Nikiforov.” 

“And you have the voice of an angel, Yuuri.” 

A light dusting of pink bloomed on Yuuri’s otherwise pale face as his eyes got even wider. “How do you know my name?” 

It was Victor’s turn to blush as he pointed to the folding screen. “I was resting on the couch behind there while you and your nieces were practicing.” 

“Oh my god,” Yuuri repeated, hiding his face in his hands. “I’m so sorry.”

 “Sorry?” Victor echoed. “If anything, I should be sorry for not announcing myself sooner.” 

Yuuri made a noise that sounded like a squeak and a groan as he shook his head. 

“But if I’m being honest,” Victor continued, “I’m thrilled I didn’t.” 

Yuuri slowly dropped his hands and nervously met Victor’s gaze. Victor had always been adamant that fluorescent lighting was horrid and did nothing but cause headaches, but seeing Yuuri’s big brown eyes shine behind his square glasses made Victor’s heart skip a beat. In nothing but his street clothes and tousled black hair, Yuuri was a vision. With the proper lighting and the right costume, he would look ethereal—more godlike than merely a man dressed like a King. 

“Why?” Yuuri asked, his voice a bit shaky. 

“Because starting today, you’re my King.”

“Mugging” is when an actor’s expression feels inauthentic, like for example if they’re meant to be in love with another character, but it just doesn’t feel quite right.

♪ Thank You Five!

“Thank You Five” is a term commonly used in the theatre, although the number isn’t always the same. When one of the crew or another actor tells you you have five minutes until places, you respond, “thank you five!” to acknowledge that you heard and know how much time you have left to get ready to go on stage.

♪ Going Up

“Going Up” is what happens when a line has completely and totally escaped you, and your mind is a complete blank onstage.

♪ Les Miserables – The eternal Revolution

An audience of 60 million people, 42 countries, 22 languages, 96 international awards, 30 years of worldwide performances, 125 thousand audience members for a live performance in Sydney in 1989. These are just some of the record numbers for Les Miserables, one of the longest-running stage musicals, based on the novel of the same name by Victor Hugo. After the initial success of the original production in Paris, the musical came to the attention of producer Cameron Mackintosh, who decided to make an English-language version. It has been running continuously since 1985 in the West End in London while on Broadway it won 8 Tony Awards and ran from 1987 to 2003 and then again from 2006 to 2008. It is, quite simply, an eternal success.

♪ Grease – It could have been Leia and Fonzie

Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta were not the producers’ first choice. Carrie Fisher, Star Wars Princess Leia, was considered for Sandy’s role, while Henry Wrinkler, who played Fonzie on Happy Days, was almost cast as Danny – however, Wrinkler declined and then Travolta signed on.  

♪ La La Land - Another Day Of Sun… and wind!

The opening scene, set on a Los Angeles freeway, includes a hundred dancers. The dance moves were first rehearsed in a parking lot while director Damien Chazelle filmed the performance on his iPhone, in order to plan the sequence and every camera frame down to the last detail, with the help of a model and tiny cars. When the actual day of the shoot rolled around, though, it was 38°C/100.4°F and the winds were so strong production designer David Wasco feared someone might fall off the freeway ramp and get killed. Deadpool! They showed it on TV last night, so I obviously stayed up to watch it. It’s awesome ^^
