PRODUCTION UPDATE:

✨ Profit donated to The Trevor Project! ✨

As a result of the outbreak of the covid19 throughout the world, it took us a bit longer than expected to take stock of our profits, but we’ve now submitted our donation to The Trevor Project, a non-profit organization focused on suicide prevention efforts among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ) youth.

Thanks to the hard work of all of our participants and the incredible outpouring of support you’ve all shown, our donation amount totals $1,564.91

Once again the Bright Lights Crew would like to give THANKS to our wonderful audience for supporting us throughout the process of creating the Bright Lights Yuri on Ice Zine. THANK YOU especially to our cast for their hard work, wonderful stories and all the passion they poured in this production!

We hope you have enjoyed this work of love and that it can still bring some light and love to you during this trying times. Please everyone stay safe and follow your health care services advices.

The cast has made their final bow, curtains are closed, and the house lights are up, but that doesn't mean it's the end of the show! Be sure to follow all of our lovely contributors on social media and Archive of Our Own, and we will see you at the Stage Door.

We’ve been allowed to reveal our pieces for @yoimusicalzine for quite a while, but I was moving house so I never got around to it! Here is my illustration of Chris and Victor, inspired by Sixteen Going On Seventeen!

I just received my copy of the zine and merch today and I’m so excited to go through and absorb all the art/read all the fics, this was a great zine to work on!!! I don’t do digital painting very often but I got super into this one haha, Chris’ see-through blouse gave me life and killed me all in one…

I’ve been given the all clear to post my Bright Lights piece! My musical was The Music Man, in case you aren’t familiar with it. One of my all time favorite musicals, and one of the my favorite scenes ever! @yoimusicalzine

I worked on this piece for months, and I’m really proud of it. It was my first major indoor background work, which is a lot more difficult for me than outdoor scenes. And all those books took me forever! But it was worth it. I’m really so honored to be a contributor for such an amazing Zine, and for such a great cause!

It has been a long journey and a real challenge, but I’m glad and proud of every second I spent working on @yoimusicalzine​ alongside a fantastic Crew and a brilliant Cast! WE DID IT!!

This is my humble tribute to a musical that blew off my mind since the first time I heard the songs, and I totally blame Jason Brown’s “The Room Where It Happens” program with my obsession with HAMILTON!

And after that, it was only natural to assign the title role to Leo, and have Club19 and Guang Hong as his revolutionary bros! :D

I had the honour of having @nerdqueensblogbitches​ writing an amazing fic for them! 

And I am not throwing away my.. Not throwing away my shot!

Bright Lights

We finally got the okay to post our pieces for the Bright Lights @yoimusicalzine​ benefiting The Trevor Project! I chose Moulin Rouge! as my musical with Yuuri as Christian and Victor as Satine. @aluvian​ and I ended up creating an entire AU around the concept, but ours is better than the original because nobody dies in the end: Victor cuts off his hair and runs away with Yuuri back to Japan, which I depicted in the “Freedom” portion of the image. 

Oh, and the bits of paper say “I Love You” in Japanese and Russian.
