I find it interesting that nearly every other samurai in Goemon's life is evil (including his original ancestor), and that he's spent years of his life around these people yet turned out the way he is.

Some of the samurai around him have had the exact same instruction, and some of the same core values as Goemon (in regard to what it means to be a samurai), yet despite being similar in many fronts have all turned out to be evil. I think that it makes his character extra special how he's been raised in this environment with these bad ideals, and surrounded by all of these bad people, yet chose to alienate himself from the only life he's ever known to become a good person
