Our guest panel features Sharon Campbell (Animation Course Director at DJCAD), Brendan Body (Animation tutor at DJCAD), Chris Murray (Course Director for the MLitt Comics & Graphic Novels), Phil Vaughan (Course Director for MSc Animation & VFX and for MDes Comics & Graphic Novels), John Fergusson ('Saltire' comics series creator) and Rossie Stone ('Dekko Comics' creator).

Are you cosplaying at DeeCon? Why not be a part of the convention by doing a cosplay skit! 

These skits are open to all! If you love to dance, sing, or do comedy in cosplay then come join us on the campus green between 2.30 and 4pm for some fun! We welcome all sorts of routines, but please be aware that this convention is open to all ages! For more information about routines please read the “Application guidelines” attached to the form and remember to be safe!

If you would like to participate, then please fill out the attached form (link at the end of this post) and send it to [email protected] with the subject header “Cosplay skits” before Monday 4th of April! Hope to see you there!

Alasdair Watson will be returning to DeeCon!! He is a professional photographer from Glasgow, who has been working with comic cons most of his career, and attending them most of his life. Aside from his commercial photography, Alasdair likes to work directly with cosplayers, shooting at many of the UK’s biggest cons, as well as organising shoots on location out in the wild. Alasdair will be bringing his cosplay photo studio back to DeeCon, with which he'll not only capture your cosplays, but create a story around them with his lighting, composition, and special effects. When he’s not photographing cosplayers, Alasdair is one of the founders of Cos-Con, a convention and events company dedicated to the art of cosplay. He also tries to make time to watch Star Trek.

CALLING ALL COSPLAY ENTHUSIASTS: Submissions for the Deecon 2016 Cosplay Compition and Masquerade are officially ~ OPEN ~

One of our guest speakers this year is Tanya Roberts! She has worked on comics including Star Wars: clone wars, TMNT and Toy Story. At the seminar she will talk about comic page layout and character work and invites the audience to participate! It would be lovely if people could draw along which would include character creation and drawing other well known characters.

Hello DeeConers! There will be a Cosplay Competition again this year!! It will be held in Mono, the Union and judging will take place all day.

The judges are Sasashie Cosplay, Dommibear and Shannon Cooke! Cosplays will be judged on craftsmanship, accuracy, rating and how they perform on stage.

We will have wonderful prizes provided by Otaku Station!

A reminder that all visitors aged 13+ require a DeeCon ticket. After party is for visitors 18+ only. And a pre-ordered T-shirt with our DeeCon mascot works as free entry!

WE'RE RUNNING OUT OF STALLS! Thank you all so much for your great response to stall applications this year! While we're still welcoming applications, we now can't guarantee a table will be reserved for you. So please, wait for us to let you know your application has been successful before sending any payments, applying for P.L.I. or making plans for the day! Of course, we will keep all applications at hand so we can contact as many of you as possible in the case of spaces becoming available due to cancellations!

This year Dee Con will be BIGGER, BETTER, and SAFER than ever before!

The event will be taking place in three locations around the University Campus green, allowing space for more events, screenings and guest speakers! Due to this, we are ticketing the event for the first time this year at just £3. More information on how to buy tickets in advance will be released soon, so keep your eyes peeled!
