Sobriety is not nearly as great as it's cracked up to be. 4 months and 4 notebooks (2 of which are pictured here) and I'm still left like like the poor beret'd burd. At least I'm honing my writing a little bit. I plan on working on my penmanship a little and writing/transcribing some of the more lucid stuff to maybe have something worthwhile to say.

Starting off my challenge to make 1 zine every week until march, it’s some of my favourite baby birds!
I’m doing this challenge to try to kick my habit of overthinking and never starting stuff, though I will admit I’m posting this now on my self-appointed deadline day because I spent the whole week overthinking, gotta start somewhere I guess. Once I forced myself to just sit down and just start drawing it only took me an hour which makes me feel a bit silly

Back to looking mid 20s and depressed but still sober.
A brief selection of some of the journal work I did in my brief sabbatical from the proper world. 70 pages of just rambling trying to burn time and make sense of things.
Really got scruffy during that month of self-imposed confinement. Had to look my age for a little bit there. The scruff did at least make me look my age, but a bit of work with a razor this morning and I'm back to looking in my mid 20s again. Yay?
Finally had to bite the bullet and spend the second half of September and most of October in a fairly average 28 day addiction treatment facility. It turns out that being a drunk at 30 stops being cute and fun at some point. Wasn't quite as bad as I thought it'd be and I actually got a fair amount of stuff out of it. Not quite an experience I'm eager to repeat, but it's a start towards something better. I filled up an entire cheap, 70-page notebook during my time there. My handwriting, sadly, didn't get much better during that time, but it is interesting to see just how much my mind can whirl and grind away if I just let it go while alternating between being nervous and uncomfortable while also incredibly bored at the same time. Gonna' have to finally have a nice shave because I am all sorts of scruffy after the fact. All that said, if you're struggling with your own stuff, I'd recommend it. Definitely not as terrible as I had worried myself into thinking it would be, and I'm an absolute champ at worrying, so maybe that small bit of comfort can help propel you forward.
