“Fragments of Summer Memories”

My father is a native of Busuanga, Palawan and our hometown is found in Sagrada, a place close to the seas. Growing up and visiting Sagrada every year, I was always fond of its stunning view - from mountains, to trees, to seas. Mornings are often great but afternoons are better, especially when sunset begins.

Biking wasn't really my thing back when we used to visit a lot, so instead I walk most of the time. It was just recently that I learned how to ride one, and now I feel like biking through sunsets of Sagrada.

I was able to catch up with an old friend from high school just recently. We haven't seen each other for about 2 years, so a selfie was pretty necessary Haha! I then decided to illustrate our photo while playing with colors and lighting.

Based on PBBY-Salanga Prize winning story "Dalawa Kami ni Lola" by Genaro Gojo Cruz, this was one of my 3 entries to INK's (Ang Illustrador ng Kabataan) opening for illustrator applicants. Unfortunately, I didn’t get it in, but hey it was worth a try!
