Gustav Klimt’s ‘lost paintings’, destroyed in WWII

from top to bottom:

Jurisprudence, 1903 - 1907

Philosophy, 1899 - 1907

Medicine, 1900 - 1907

The three paintings were commissioned as ceiling paintings for the University of Vienna. They were never displayed as the public deemed them “pornographic”. They were destroyed in 1945 by retreating German SS forces.
