Rhaenys sat on a balcony overlooking the sea, waiting for Mei to arrive so they could discuss matters properly. They’d had a short formal introduction when Mei arrived at Sunspear, after months of letter exchanges about the white walkers in the North, but Rhaenys thought it best Mei had some time to rest from travelling so far.

Finally she heard knocking and saw the Yi Tish commander be let into the room by her servants. After telling her servants to leave with a wave of her hand, she gestured for Mei to sit down by the table. “Please, come sit. We finally have time to talk.” She smiled at Mei before looking back at the view.

“Ironic isn’t it? To be discussing our impending doom to these white walkers when it’s such a beautiful day. But things can never be simple.” Rhaenys sighed, her expression tired. This was not something she wanted to put her countrymen through, even though she knew it was prevent so much loss in the future.

It had been a long journey, and though Mei had imagined it many times, she pictured Dorne a thousand times. As she had stepped off the ship, she realised none of them were right. It was beautiful, of course, but so different from home, so strange that the only thing familiar to her was the heat. It reminded her of the sweltering summers she spent in of Yin. It had been a long time since she had felt that heat.

She was grateful to rest. So long at sea had taken its toll, and she had never been one for boats. But eventually, she was ready to meet Rhaenys. She smoothed down her robe nervously, trying to calm herself at the meeting a foreign Princess for the first time, reminding herself of their correspondence and purpose. She was a commander of the Yi Ti empire, and she was to help Westeros as much as possible. She should not be nervous. Stepping inside, she bowed deeply from the waist, returning the princesses smile warmly as she took a seat. “Thank you, your highness.”

“No, they never are, especially in circumstances like these. ” She followed the woman’s gaze, “I must thank you again, for your acceptance of Yi Ti’s offer of help. Many would not even considered allowing the presence of our military on their soil. Still, you have allowed my people and me to arrive safely, and you have our deepest gratitude.”
