What possessed you to buy that coat?

Cave Man-esque or Something...

My friend and I were wasting time in H&M before I had to go study for a test and she had to go teach. We found this beautiful coat that H&M carries, and we really aren't sure why. She was kind enough to model it for me. (The pieces that look light brown were actually a sort of pink) What do you think?

Is it Leaves or Camoflauge or Both?

I saw this coat one morning when I had to get off of a bus because it wasn't going to the proper place. I don't care what pattern a coat is supposed to have as long as it is presentable, but this is just sort of odd... it's not the worst coat in the world (I have seen many bad ones, but it is difficult to take these pictures), but it could be better. What pattern do you think this is supposed to be? Kelp? Seaweed? Camo? Leaves? I really don't know.

It's the hair and the coat together that get me

I saw this on one of the few occasions I have chosen to use the metro instead of the bus. The metro is usually very full, but on this occasion I had room to look at the people (and coats) around me. The coast might be passable normally, an odd checkered pattern in bright colors. However, a coat like this, I would normally expect to see a middle-school student wear on a very rainy day with a pair of brightly colored rain boots to match. St. Petersburg has not been particularly rainy this fall and I don't think it was raining that day. The coat also doesn't look like a cold-whether coat, so I can't figure out why this person is wearing it. The coat already has a pattern bordering on the "they make coats like that?" level, but the haircut this person chose pushes it passed that. You can see the picture for yourself, but honestly, why?

Yellow on Yellow on Yellow

This coat I actually spotted on a bus on the way to class right before I left the bus and took a picture of the red coat. There is nothing wrong with yellow on a coat... except that they are really just too obnoxious. The gray collar doesn't really work with the yellow here either, the yellow is just to bright. In addition, if the coat was a better style, I probably would not have taken a picture of it, but the puffy belted look that can work with a black or brown coat doesn't quite work with this yellow monster of a coat.

Fuzzy Socks and Animal Print

This photo was taken at the beginning of last week in St. Petersburg. I had been feeling sick, not really noticing the world around me when this came into my presence while I was waiting for a bus to go home. It was already a bit dark, so it is a little bit hard to see exactly how unattractive the coat is, but I will describe it a little bit for you. Imagine one of those heavy fall blankets that are woven. It looked like that material but made into a jacket with an animal print on it. The part that made it even worse was the collar. It was (you can see it in the picture) a light brown that didn't watch the coat. At first I didn't even realize it was part of the coat. The texture looked like one of those fuzzy socks or a stuffed animal that had been washed a few too many times.

Trying to Get to Class

I was standing on the side of the street waiting for the light to change so I could cross, when I noticed this person next to me. Honestly, it was sort of hard not to notice her. I love red, red is my favorite color, but I would never wear it like this. First of all, this is too much red in one place. So much red at such a bright shade that it becomes overwhelming. Secondly, if you want to buy a coat with real fur on it, why do you buy a coat where the fur is dyed? Fur is already expensive and I am sure they charge extra for the dye, so this coat was just a bad coat to begin with.

The First Coat

We saw this jacket on a bus ride from Suzdal' to Vladimir Russia. This is one of the oddly patterned coats that we seem to see more frequently than we should, and we don't understand this pattern. If there is a child wearing a patterned coat, it is understandable; it is common for children to do so. We are also not saying that all patterns are bad by any means; we just wonder why someone would wear this coat.

You Can Argue with Opinions

But, nothing useful will come of it because opinions are not fact.

That brings me to introducing the purpose of this blog.

Walking around during a vacation in Russia, my friend and I noticed that although there are many beautiful coats that people have started to pull out as the weather cools off, there are also some very questionable coats. We wondered why some of these coats were made in the first place, much less why someone would spend money on them. Some coats have ridiculous patterns that I didn't know existed for coats anymore, while others are colors I would never imagine for a coat. A few coats show up with some sort of accessory, such as died fur, that just seems odd, for lack of a better word. As time went on and we continued to see more questionable coats while we traveled, we started throwing around the idea of starting a blog for the purpose of documenting such coats.

We will post pictures of the jackets we have managed to photograph, but we will make sure that the faces of the people wearing these coats are indistinguishable. Also, they obviously liked these coats when they chose to buy them, and you might too, it is just our opinion that they could have made a better choice when picking out their coat.

Here I would like to invite you to post your opinion about whatever coat you feel like saying something about, but keep it civil please.

In addition, if you are walking around or on public transportation somewhere and find someone with a questionable coat, snag a picture, blur their face and send it in. Tell us a little about what you were doing, was it on public transportation or on the way to a restaurant? What city or country were you in?
