Horus Heresy 3.0

Legio Custodes vs Sons of Horus at approximately 3,000 pts.

Loving the new edition so far, but think the core custodes need a bit more spice in detachments. Dreadnoughts and a Knight would probably be real fun.

The Siege of Jouricus's Citadel is underway. The Imperial world has been declared by Lord Guilliman to be recaptured as priority Extremis for the arrival of the Hive tendrils.

The furst engagements saw the Tendril of Chimera attack heretical positions, while the Heralds of the Chalice, Ultramarines 2nd company and the Sons of Russ began a coordenated assault on World Eater, heretic Knight Houses and the aeldari with resounding success.

The Inquisitorial forces of the Ordo Maleus have arrived in system, as the pressure from the genestealer cults mount on local Planetary Defense Forces.

When invited to play Horus Heresy, you play Horus Heresy

Today's duel against the death guard armored detachment was tones of fun due to the insane movement of the custodes infantry and the ridiculousness of the Venattari in a Night Fight scenario.

Honestly, I feel like I need about 1 knight and 30 sisters of silence extra for this game...

Crusade Prepp

Some list testing ahead of the next Crusade. Ran the LAG Bladeguard build which I think will be a good basis for the start of the roster.

But what I am unsure of is the Repulsor Executioner. It's a hefty chunk of points with a lot of firepower, but unless I'm dueling the Deathguard's landraiders or the Militarum's motorpool, I think it's just a bit much. It's way to difficult to counter as well with it's laser cannon range.

Testing forces for the next crusade

100-57 in the favor of the angels.

Had a Repulsor Executioner to put the fear of Sanguinius in enemy tanks, while The Sanguinary Guard and Death Company hung back to punish over-extending.

Few notes:

Jump Intercessors still suck for DPS, but they're fast, they do a bit of damage and they bait opponents into bad positions.

The Sternguard with a Sanguinary Priest are extremely versatile. A 5+++, already a really good gunline, and turning the CCW into a Astartes Chainsword on charge.

Bladeguard are able to do some insane shit with a Captain and Ancient tagged in. Especially using the LAG's [Sustain Hits 3] and Fights First enhancements. All used in a single round with the 2 melee buff strategems resulted in 10 AP-2 D3 attacks and a total of 18 Devestating Wounds done just by the Captain alone to Morven and her Paragons.

Mostly work with a little bit of in progress

Coz nothing says Blood Angels quite as much as an alpha charge to delete some characters.

Planing to run a 5-Riever squad with a Phobos Lieutenant in there unless I'm saving points by putting a Judiciar with my Bladeguard. Scouts 6" + 12" move + disembark into a move and shoot for a d6" and a charge afterwords sounds extremely appealing. Not to mention about 30 S6 AP-1 D1 attacks going into a single character (with extra damage and strength if needed from the LAG strategems) should guarantee that turn 1 Assassination if I'm a little lucky.

I was invited to participate in a local Blood Bowl league starting next month, so the first step was obviously to design a team logo.

Now all that's left is to paint up the skaven.

13 players, 3 months, 52 matches in total.

The Adeptus Custodes, with the help of the Inquisitorial Ordos have managed to secure the pass of Demeter, and moved into Imperium Nihilus.

Points wise the same 4 players made the top 4 this time around, so we collectively decided to step to the sidelines and let another player from each of our alliances progress to the finals.

For the finals we have:

Adeptus Mechanicus vs Astra Militarum;

Black Templars vs Thousand Sons

Unironically, the Dawn of War series takes a lot of the blame for this.

The T'au were always portrayed with the thick japanese accent in those, and they were the first major introduction point for most of the early community.

well… i’ve made the plunge. even if i don’t commit to a full army, the chaplain in particular looks cool af.

not sure on schemes yet, i’m partial to Slaanesh/Emperors Children for the chaos lord cuz im partial to the prince of pleasure.

i’m torn on the chaplain tho… may just use a custom paint job

anyway tips and advice welcome cuz idk what i’m doing

First of all: welcome to the hobby.

Secondly, there's really no good starting advice in the hobby other than "find an army you enjoy, and enjoy building it".

Paint schemes? There's cannon ones, but it's your models. If you don't like the official schemes or lore, make your own; the galaxy is vast enough for that.

If you're planning on doing Emperor's Children, I recommend not going too ham on the models right now. Generic characters like chaos lords or sorcerers should be fine, but the faction should get a dedicated range by the end of 2025 (most likely sooner than later).

And finally and most importantly: have fun.

I need to start on the Calidus at some point, but the badzone enforcers are definitely getting more finished.

Went with a more "experimental stealth tech" guard vibe to them, as Im planning on running them as a PMC training gangers in necromunda.
