love that simon, an actual serial killer for the past 12 years, is offended because someone thought he uses drugs (which he does)
suncuts:
Harking back to an earlier interaction from today, Daniel tensed. A novitiate came to his room looking for some tough answers, and the topic quickly turned to the vow of celibacy. Of all the anxieties he encountered among the younger men and women in his community, this one had become the most prevalent. Cut off from family as well as from women, they were fearful of expressing any affection; especially of forming friendships with fellow priests and students.
“No,” said gently. For a moment Daniel hated him.
“If you know where you’re going it’s cab money. And if you can’t get home, you have options.” He tries to give him the money again. “Shelters.”
Simon blinked at him. “What? I’m not going to a shelter. Do you--” He lowered his voice and leaned forward slightly. “Do you think I’m a drug addict? I-is that what this is about?”
He couldn’t help but feel humiliated--an old lesson he’d learned over and over in his childhood. Everyone was always judging every move he made. The way he walked, the way he spoke, the way he dressed. All clues to who or what he was. He avoided it now, for the most part, by never staying anywhere long enough for anyone to put any clues together.
And, anyway, he wasn’t that child anymore. And he wasn’t who that child would ‘have grown up to be either.
“Are you, um, a police officer or something? I’m sorry, but you’re barking up the wrong tree.” He looked away, suddenly remembering that his pupils are probably a little too small.

bold all that apply to your muse , memories of my childhood edition... tw, contains mentions of abuse / neglect / death / trauma
scraped knees, silent tears in a locked room, slamming doors, pervasive loneliness, a dog barking, rain on a metal roof, flinching at movement, the creak of an old house, forced laughter, wandering in the dark woods, wondering how you made it through, sudden loss, trying to make sense of the noise, hiding what you love to protect it, trying to explain but your words falter, invaded privacy, confusion at the pain, running barefoot in the grass, wondering what you did wrong and coming up with nothing, realizing you aren’t a priority, grass stains on white clothing, trying to earn love you will never have, being threatened over the smallest mistake, secrets you are warned not to share, the feeling of never being good enough, the hope things might someday get better, grief that aches in your bones, childish dares and pranks, the sense that your body isn’t yours, shame and guilt that aren’t yours to carry, sledding down a frozen hill, absentmindedly following snakes through the grass, punching a tree until your knuckles bleed, tears over every dead creature you find, searching out small places you can hide... just in case, climbing the tallest tree so they can’t touch you, the feeling of something tainted under your skin, a curious child told to stop asking, floral dresses, body tensing at approaching footsteps, anger with nowhere to go, brief escapes from the chaos, the purr of a contented cat, taking the blame to keep the peace, being told you’re too sensitive, the creaking springs of a trampoline on a sunny day

@suncuts "How do you keep the monsters at bay?" (Daniel!)
Simon’s eyes widen, his face momentarily frozen in a neutral, pleasant expression, a defense mechanism he learned years ago.
“You don’t,” he says, finally, actually breathing out a little laugh. His tone is conversational, like they’re talking about the weather. “You don’t keep them at bay. How can you? If you could, they wouldn’t be monsters. They’d be inconveniences. With monsters, I think-- Well, I think once they have your scent, once they’re after you... If you don’t want to just let them hurt you and hurt others, you have to destroy them. Or, I guess, be destroyed.” He casts his eyes down. “I guess that’s a little dramatic, but. I think it’s true.”
today and tomorrow i’m defeating depression by writing all my fucked up little muses on all my blogs and that’s how it’s going to be. if you want to do something new or want memes or a starter or something, reply or message me here or hmu on discord at uncertainlogic#7426

extensive oc building part 3 [source]
part one, part two
what sort of temperament did they have as a child?: Simon was quiet but friendly. He was always very eager to be accepted by adults, working especially hard to impress his teachers at school by keeping his grades up, helping clean classrooms, bringing in gifts, etc.
will they be able-bodied or disabled?: Simon was disabled by an accident 12 years ago, when he and his husband were in a building that collapsed. Simon has had chronic pain in various parts of his body since then, and sometimes needs a cane to get around. His doctors no longer believe that he is in as much pain as he’s in, and he has to buy opioids illegally to manage his pain.
what subjects did they excel at in school?: Simon always did well in english classes, because he loves to read and naturally makes intratextual and intertextual connections.
what subjects did they struggle with in school?: He struggled with math and science, but managed to keep A’s and B’s.
what’s their favorite color?: Yellow and dusty pink.
what’s their favorite foods?: Simon loves desserts, especially his mother’s tarte tatin.
what’s their preferred beverage?: He likes wine, but doesn’t have a particularly refined palette and generally buys bottles of anything cheap and sweet.
who was their first romantic partner?: He had a girlfriend throughout high school, but eventually realized that his feelings toward her were platonic and that he is homosexual.
what was their first kiss like?: Awkward, chaste. With his girlfriend sophomore year.
what was their first sexual experience like?: Also awkward, during his senior year in high school with his long-time girlfriend. It is part of what made him realize he didn’t have those kind of feelings for her.
