OH MY GOD. I don’t see you much on my timeline but when I do I am instantly GOBSMACKED BY YOUR ART!! YOUR ARTT!! YOUR DELICIOUS ARTTT RAAAAAAA
Anywho, I’m so curious, but how many hours didn’t that take and how many layers, if you’re comfortable because I see that I while I SCREAMMMMM I also get dizzy with how many hypothetical layers it took
Thank you so so much for your kind words!! 😭 I'm so sorry I don't pop up a lot, for the new ones here I have a chronic migraine condition started about 3 years ago so I haven't really been able to come online as much besides focusing on work and commissions ;v;
I wanted to go check the work time for you on CSP I only recently learned it was a thing... and apparently it's only for ver2.1 and above? I'm still on 1.13 and I don't see it in my Information panel ;v;; I'm glad you asked about the layers because for that anni art in particular(I'm assuming this is about that piece?) it will get a bit harder to give an estimate on how much time and layers I used because I used CSP File Object function a lot for that one, I'm not really good at explaining but basically:
For every big block of character/object you see on that piece is actually a separate file/artwork that I painted without lighting and imported each one into the big illustration as a File Object and then painted on the lighting on them, for example with Riddle, here's how he looks just as a full body, he has his own layers in his own file(he has about 45!):
and here's how the layers look after I imported it into the actual illustration as a File Object, it is just one singular layer and I clip and paint the lighting on him. So for the illustration itself, the layers might be much less than you might think!
But the good thing is if I need to fix something, I can go back to his original file and edit/render more on that, and it will update onto this illustration too without the pain of the illust itself getting like.... hundreds of layers haha and also since I already drew a lot of the objects in full, if I have to move/edit anything for composition like resizing/adding atmospheric lighting etc it's not as tedious as I don't need to redraw parts! It seems like way more work, but honestly having to constantly move things and redraw can become frustrating (and csp lags so bad if you move too many layers at once) so I just do the hard part first and save myself from it later ;v; The only thing is often a lot of things are hidden, like for example Jamil is actually drawn in full, but you don't get to see it in the final ;v;
And the overblot phantoms are just flat graphical shapes since they are so far away!
I'm sorry this got a bit wordy but I hope this explains why it's a little hard to give an accurate layer count (unless maybe I check every file and use a calculator aksdjhad) As for time I can only really give a rough estimate ;v; I worked on this on and off quite irregularly while doing comms and other work. Sometimes I spend 10 minutes on it, sometimes maybe an hour if I have time before bed. I only spent more time on it 2 days before the anni date, maybe if I bunch up the time it's about 5-7 days? That is with sleep etc. ;v;;;
Anyway my apologies for this getting so long, but I do hope it helps! Happy Drawing and thank you for the message!
