Recipe Websites That I Love!

There are two recipe websites that I visit often. Both of them are unique and have 100’s of delicious, finger licking good, recipes. The one I visit the most is: http://www.fauziaskitchenfun.com/. The authors have done an amazing job in posting delicious recipes. This website has many recipes from all over the world. The main author is Fauzia and you have to try all of her recipes. She goes through many variations of a recipes and modifies them to form one which is the best. I love her recipes and I have tried so many of them. I really recommend trying her recipes.

The other website is: http://zaiqa.net/. This website also has many recipes. Several of them are Indian. The author, Mona, has also done an amazing job on her website. I really like all the pictures she put up and the clear instructions. I have also tried many Indian recipes from this website. Her website is very easy to navigate through and it is very easy to find a recipe or two that you will love. I recommend going to her website and looking through her recipes. I’m 100% sure you will find one that you will really enjoy!

Mmm. RasMalai; a divine, creamy, soft dessert. RasMalai literally means juicy cream. It has been described as a cheesecake without a crust. This tasty dessert comes from South East Asia. It is very easy to make and you will become addicted. It is dessert made out of milk powder balls soaked in cream. When I first made it, which was last month with my aunt, I was amazed at how good it turned out. I kept on taking seconds and thirds. It is very simple to make. The author of this website gave out really simple and understandable instructions. You have to try this recipe. You will fall in love with RasMalai!

Basbousa or Basboosa is a sweet and delicious cake made out of semolina and soaked in sugar syrup. It is an Eastern Mediterranean dessert that everyone loves. It is simple yet very delicious. You might not have heard of semolina before but it is a purified wheat middling of wheat called Durum. It is used in many dishes like puddings, cereals, pastas, etc.

There are a lot of variations of Basbousa and it also has many different names. I have used this recipe, Libyan Basbousa, so many times. My sister started making basboosa from a different recipe and I wanted to try it too. So I just went on youtube to search up some Basbousa recipes and Libyan Basbousa caught my eye. It was a huge success every time I made it. I made it for my relatives and they just loved it. I hope you will try it and enjoy it as much as I did.

Yummy Gulab Jamun. I remember the first time I made these; it was with my aunt. I had so much fun and I ate so many of them. For my blogs or on my website, I will be posting a little information about each dish and then post the recipe/instructions.

Gulab Jamun is like a sweet dumpling made out of milk powder that is fried and soak in sweet sugar syrup. It is soft, delicious, and irresistible. Gulab Jamun is a very famous dessert of South East Asia. There are many variations of it, but this one I learned is traditional.

Gulab Jamun (Makes 15-20 dumplings)

Syrup • 1 & 1/2 cups sugar • 1 & 1/2 cups water • 1/4 tsp. powdered cardamom

Mix all ingredients in a saucepan. Make sure to use a big enough saucepan so all the dumplings can fit into it. Place it on heat and stir until the sugar dissolves. Then allow it to boil on low heat for about 3-5 minutes so it thickens slightly then shut the heat and let the syrup cool.

Dumplings • 1 cup full-fat powdered milk • 1 egg, lightly beaten • 1 tsp. semolina • 2 tbsp. plain all purpose flour • 1 tsp. baking powder • oil as needed for frying (about 2 cups)

Combine all dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Then add in the egg. Mix gently to make a soft dough. Make small balls out of dough. (Remember, once in oil and then syrup, they will double in size) Heat oil on medium in a deep pot. Then lower the heat to Low and add in the gulab jamus one at a time. (Don’t stuff all of them if they don’t fit all at once since they will expand, you can fry half of them first, then fry the other half.) Using a spoon, splash some oil all over them and stir/turn them over so they cook evenly. Once they have expanded and turned brown all over, remove from the pot. Use a slotted spoon to remove excess oil. Place the gulab jamus in the syrup. The syrup should be room temperature or slightly warm. Let them soak in the syrup for 15 minutes. Enjoy these Yummy Gulab Jamuns!

The intended audience for my website is anyone who loves cooking and wants to try out new delicious recipes. They would want to visit my site/blog to learn about different foods from different cuisines and also to try them. They are probably looking at other cooking tutorial/ recipe websites. The websites that I read and look at for recipes are mostly http://www.fauziaskitchenfun.com/, http://zaiqa.net/, and http://allrecipes.com/. These also inspire me because they are so easy to follow and navigate through. They also have so many delicious recipes. All writers of these three websites, I believe, are very friendly and caring. They all give out tips and advices. All the recipes have easy to understand instructions.

In the website fauziaskitchenfun.com, the author of the site included a comments section where viewers can reply and ask question. I really like this tool because it will allow viewers to communicate with the writer. I also like the glossary and search tool that these websites have. I will be sure include these features in my website so it will be easier for the viewers to find certain recipes or look something up in the glossary if they aren’t sure what something is. I will also have to be extra careful in typing the clear instructions for the recipes so I don’t confuse any of my viewers.

Delicious Food ~ Intro

Cooking is my Passion. I love cooking and trying out new dishes, so I have created this blog, Delicious Food Lover, to share delicious recipes with other cooks.  This blog will be connected to my website project called Simply Delicious. I will be posting delicious and simple recipes that I have tried and would like other cooks to try as well. I will also be posting recipes from other website that I enjoy making.

When updating my website, I will post the updated material, like new recipes or recipes of the week, to my blog so everyone can easily find the new material. On my blog, I will also post tips and advices I have learned from celebrity chefs and of course my mom, my grandma, and my sisters. Yummy Cheesy Bread that Kids will Love

Are you or your kids hungry? Do you want to make something that is easy and yummy? Then this recipes is perfect for you!

Cheesy Bread

4 slices of bread (any kind)

1/2 cup mozzarella cheese

1/4 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp grated garlic

salt to taste

1/4 cup chopped tomatoes

1/4 cup coriander

1/2 chopped green chili or jalapenos 

olive oil to taste

Pre-heat the oven to 350F. Obtain a pizza pan or any oven proof dish and place the pieces of bread on it. Spread a little olive oil on the bread. Add tomatoes, chili, garlic, and coriander. Sprinkle cheese all over the bread and then sprinkle some salt and pepper. Place it into the oven for 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the crust of the bread is golden brown. Cut it into triangles or serve them just as is. Enjoy! :)

(P.S. Serve immediately; otherwise bread might get soggy from the tomatoes.)

(Tip: if you want, you can use minced garlic and spread a little on the bread and then add other ingredients. This is give it more of a garlic-y taste. Also, you can omit or add more ingredients of your choice.)
