times Jane told Maura she loved her (2/4)
One time, Maura wanted to talk about their final wishes (…) and said that she wanted to be buried at sea. Though couched in grumpiness about hating boats, Jane said that she wants to die one day before Maura.
One time, Jane was furious at her mom for denying her the opportunity to destroy evidence, get charged with obstruction of justice, and spend a year in jail in order to keep Maura from going to prison.
One time, Angela brought home these bagels everybody had been dying to try, but Maura couldn’t have any because she was fasting for surgery, so they didn’t have one in front of her. It was really kind of sweet that even after Maura left the room, Angela tempted Jane to take one for later, and Jane still wouldn’t.
One time, Maura was having an emotional day and Jane accidentally made her cry and went from smarmy to ~𝓈𝑜𝒻𝓉~ in 1 second.
One time, Jane cheerfully volunteered that while she might, conditionally, give a kidney to one of her brothers, she would definitely give one to Maura.
And one time, Jane placed her trust in Maura to raise her baby if anything ever happened.
Not her brother who has a similarly aged kid… not her other brother who’s dependable if clueless… not even her baby-crazed mother.
Maura.

times Jane told Maura she loved her (¼)
If your memory of R&I has faded, congrats - please remember only the following times when Jane showed Maura she loved her instead of saying it.
There were too many times to count when it looked like Jane wasn’t listening to Maura, but as I liked to suspect all along, she usually really was.
There was a whole photoset’s worth of times when Jane could tell when something was wrong,
And of times she was there for Maura, even when Maura had forgotten to ask for help.
Sometimes, Maura would forget that she was a wonderful person, and Jane would pause whatever else was going on, look her in the eye, and remind her.
Most of Maura’s sorrows were about her family, and Jane spoke up for Maura to literally every one of her parents (and a bonus grandparent) when she didn’t like the way they were treating her.
Kind words were never Jane’s strong suit, but she found a few,
And emotional support smooches,
And plenty of hugs despite how they both claimed not to be big huggers.
