The Beacon Hills Aquarium was rarely filled with visitors, all except for Daisy. She would find herself sitting on the bench in the completely dark room, facing the dolphin tank just in front of her, surrounded by nothing but the blue waters, the ripples reflecting off of her face as she sat there and scribbled, writing poems, attempting to draw anatomically correct Spotted Dolphin. Yes, the sound of a voice disturbed her a bit, but more out of shock. She must have been sitting in the quiet for hours when Dimitri’s figure came out from the shadows into the blue light.
“Dimitri, hey…” It didn’t feel like she was putting on a show, her tone natural and soft. For whatever reason, she couldn’t explain why she’d felt so comfortable with him. Maybe because she felt like he wasn’t preying on her, or he didn’t have any ulterior motives than to just sit and talk. She liked that about him. She moved her notebook to the side, patting the spot next to her as she caught a glimpse of the little stuffed bottlenose dolphin in his hand, “The bottlenose… common, but never a bad choice. The most hydrodynamic of the dolphins with the smoothest skin and the best fins for navigating tough waters…”
Hearing the random fact about dolphins was normal, natural even. Dimitri could sit and listen to Daisy talk about things for hours. “Yeah, I got it for you. I hope that’s okay. I thought about flowers, but I wasn’t sure what kind you liked. But I know you like dolphins, so it was an easy choice. They had other colors, but you like this color. I noticed that.” He murmured, cheeks flushing a bit as he smiled at her.
He sat down and held the stuffed dolphin towards her, “You really like it here, I can see why.” He admitted, looking towards the tank and just watching the dolphins swim by. Occasionally one or two of the pod seemed to stop and just watch them.
