Josie rubbed her chin in thought as Thera spoke, considering the situation. She knew she couldn’t afford the island either, but perhaps with the drop in shares, someone could make an acquisition of the company that did own the island. Or at least, a controlling interest. She would have to research that. Aloud, she answered, “The distance for me to fly here isn’t terrible, but I may be able to work up a solution to this ownership issue more easily if I was present.” She shrugged. “I know a few folks who could be persuaded to invest in this, take it off the previous companies hands.” She turned and began to walk up the path towards the hotel, and sighed as she placed her hands on her hips as she walked. “Still annoyed that those hybrids destroyed my rifle. I just don’t feel right without one. Especially now that I’ve run into those creatures.” Her body involuntarily shuddered. “I’m almost positive one of them was the attendant, at one point.”
“Mm, yes, the hybrids.” Thera frowned, with perhaps a little more gravitas than she truly felt; man’s inhumanity to man was generally their problem, not hers. “I suppose if that’s who it was, they’d call it recycling their assets.” Someone already signed and sealed into the company, possibly on an industrial secrets contract … and voluntarily working on a hidden base to illegally fuck around with genetics to make a war machine.
In her harsher moments, Thera would figure they reaped (and maybe deserved) what they’d sown.
“Well, I’m not expecting anyone else to come bumbling by just yet, and the team is here if anyone does. So how about you go do what you need to,” And get a new rifle - the feeling of being without an ‘old friend’ that way she understood, “I’ll wash this shit off, debrief and rest, and we can pick this up in the morning?”
Josie gave Thera a thumbs up, continuing to walk to the hotel.

Next morning...
The animals gave their customary greetings to the rising sun, baying and roaring to be fed and taken care of. Josie sat at a table under an umbrella near one of the few cafes that hadn’t been destroyed, sipping away at an iced mocha she had taken from the vending machine inside, while looking over a tablet, making notes with a stylus on it. Attire wise, she still had on her body suit, but the armor components were gone, outside of the belt. Her tail flicked beside her as she considered what was on the tablet. “Hmmm...infrastructure is still fairly sound, the damage here is actually not that extensive, outside of the aviary...or whatever a dino equivalent is.” She mused softly to herself, thinking over the overflight inspection she gave the place not too long after dawn. Her ears perked up at the sound of footfalls approaching. Without looking up, she raised her voice in greeting, “Morning Thera.”
