“Armand should’ve processed his trauma by now.”
Okay, when? When would he have had time? During the 400 years he was in the clutches of a cult and therefore all he could think about was their programming? Is that when he should’ve worked though it?
And how? Where would he have learned to do that? Who was challenging him? Mind you the nature of his abuse both through Marius and the cult were examples of grooming. Even if he worked through everything at the brothels, which he hasn’t, that’s still hundreds of years he’s got left to sift through and it was all things he was instructed and manipulated into not questioning.
It’s not as if Lestat broke up the cult and handed Armand a series of leaflets about cult deprogramming and recommended a therapist. He just guided him into the leadership position at the theatre where he was just enforcing the very same things the cult was having him do. He has never worked through any of it because he’s never been able to have time or perspective. He is frozen. That’s his entire thing. Trapped in victimhood. Never able to move on.
Not to mention that the extent of his abuse is utterly incomprehensible to the human mind. If we endure too much, we just die. He has to continue. Centuries of damage being done so someone so young.
Quit forcing 21st century standards onto someone from the 16th century. It just doesn’t work. When could he have done any of this? With Louis? Louis who infamously is in deep denial about his own trauma? Who is from the 20th century?
Even comparing the mindsets of Lestat and Armand is absurd. They’re both from a long time ago but Armand has several centuries on Lestat. Do you understand how much change the world can go through in a couple of hundred years?
Armand (and Lestat actually) predates psychology even being acknowledged as a legitimate science. It was barely in its infancy when Louis was human. Not to mention Armand comes from a time where his abuse from Marius was normal. How was he meant to process any of this? Where are the vampire therapists? It’s one thing to dislike Armand but to suggest he should just get over what was done to him or that he even has the means to do it is just so absurd.

I feel for everyone who isn’t having the time of their fucking lives with The Vampire Lestat. Every week I clap and cheer for the antics of the world’s saddest buzzword-laden bisexual crash-out diva and his crew of the least healed men to ever grace the small screen. The songs are cringe delightfully camp, the wigs are a nightmare, I’m living my best life, I’m loving every second. Why the fuck would you have a blood shower in your tour bus. The onscreen mother-son incest is only like the third wildest thing happening in any given episode. It’s insane. I never want it to end
WHY MUST SHE BE KEPT? AND WHY IN THIS PLACE SHE MUST BE KEPT? AND WHAT DOES IT MEAN IF YOU ARE NOT ASKED? AND WHAT DOES IT MEAN IF YOU ARE NOT ANSWERED? AND WHAT IS IT TO SEE AND TO KNOW, BUT TO BE TOLD YOU HAVE NOT SEEN. YOU HAVE NOT KNOWN. AND WHY IS HER TONGUE CUT OUT? AND WHY IS HER DEATH PROLONGED AND WHEN WILL IT STOP AND WHO WILL STOP IT? AND WHY MUST THEY, MUST WE, MUST I, MUST HE, MUST THEY, AS THE MILLENNIA, UNFOLD? WHY THE GIRL CURLED? WHY HER EYES LOWERED? WHY ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD? WHY LIMP IN THE STRAW? I AM THE GIRL! I AM THE GOD! I AM THE VOICE! I AM THE SONG! I AM THE NIGHT AND I CAN ANSWER! I CAN ARRANGE IT! I CAN SAY RISE, AND I CAN SPEAK! AND I AM HER! AND I AM SHE! AND I, I, I, I AM THE ANSWER!
