I hc that when El moved to cali with the byers, she was super excited that will and Jon would be her brothers and she would find a bunch of things that she had in common with will (they were the same age, mike, their similar experiences etc) but her and Jon didn't really have a lot of things they could talk about so she would always bring up the fact that her and Jon both had J names (Jane and Jonathan) and she would get really excited about it so it made Jon happy and it was their little thing where Joyce and will called her El but Jonathan called her Jane.
