“I’ll be aware of that.” She gave her brother a bright smile, and her gaze traveled towards the training field. “Oh Percy! Will you spar with me! I wanna get better at using a sword. “

                Finally Alex could catch a break. There was no quest                 to go on, and no Stoll brothers to pull some kind of prank.                It felt extremely weird but rather nice at the same time.                She finally had time to work on drawing her arcitecture designs.

                                However that peace was shortly lived when Alex                                saw a spider climb into her shoe. Immediately                                she froze and stared, contemplating what to do.

                               This was bad.

                A familiar figure in the distance caught her                 eye, and she scrambled up to go meet him.

        “Alex! Alex, please you have to help me!”         She begged her eyes wide and frantic.

        “I saw a spider go into my shoe, and you have to get it out!”

He stopped at the sound of his name, hand meeting metal-clad wrist as he took in the panicked tone. Two taps of his fingers and his sword was out, senses already    h e i g h t e n e d.

               Her words finally planted themselves in his head and the sword                dropped. Monsters were easy, comfortable. Spiders? A shudder                ran down his spine as he approached.

                         "Jeez, you scared me I thought something was actually wrong.“                          He leaned down and inspected the shoe, backing away immediately                          as the impressively big spider jumped forward. "You’re lucky you’re                          a daughter of Athena. Anyone else would be on their own.”

A deep breath escaped his lips and he grapped the shoe, dumping it out and quickly stepping on the offending spider.

She hid behind his back and peered around him when he examined her shoe. That spider was     h u g e     and she was pretty sure that, that spider was on steroids or something.

                           "Well then I must thank you for your bravery kind sir."                             there was a touch of sarcasm in her voice, but deep                             down she was extremely grateful for his help.

                 "And for the record, having a spider in your shoe is something wrong.                   Spiders do not belong in shoes...or anywhere for that matter."                   She gazed down with disdain at her shoe and then casted her                  gaze back up at Alex. "I think I'm going to burn that shoe."

Pursing her lips she bent down and poked it; a shudder running through her body. "Yes...I'm burning it. It's not like I needed this shoe anyway.

   This was her first quest, and not to mention it was given directly from her mother…how cool was that?! Alex had to take a deep breath and suppress a bit of her excitement nodding her head in the process. “Yes mother.”

    The soft kiss to her hair along with the ‘that’s my girl’ pleased her greatly and this time Alexandra couldn’t help but let a small smile slip as her gaze traveled back towards the board. This was one of the things she had always wanted; validation from her mother. “One quick question, are you going to tell me why I must go to Athens? Do I have to retrieve something?”

“And I do expect you to do it right.” She stroked her hair and relaxed slightly. Alex was capable of doing this, she had to stop worrying. It was the same every time one of her children were sent out for a quest, it left Athena incredibly worried.

“Ah, well I can´t say what you will retrieve because that you will find out as you go” She took a seat beside her daughter and gave her hand a small squeeze. “I trust you with this dear, whatever danger might come in your way I know you will think before acting and make me proud.”

“Don’t worry mother, I will make you proud.” She claimed. Of course any child of the Gods wanted to make their parents proud, it was who they were, it was in their blood. The thought that her mom already expected her to do this right brought great joy to Alex.

If her smile could get any wider Alex’s face would practically split in half. However she wasn’t going to let this go to her head, that’s where trouble could easily come in. “Thank you for entrusting me with this.” I won’t let you down.”

Teak rolled his eyes. “Obviously they’re angry. They stole all the canoe paddles,” he stated. That was why he called Kenna down here in the first place. If he hadn’t been worried about getting the hell beaten out of him, he would’ve swam down to the naiads and asked for the paddles back.

“Okay, look, I swear I didn’t do anything. I just wanted to go out on the lake and I found this.” He waved his hand at the water and the naiads below.  “Can’t you stick your head down there and ask them what or who pissed them off? That would save us a lot of time.”

Kenna narrowed her eyes and put her hands on her hips. “Okay Teak, listen to me here.” She shifted a bit and raised her hand till it was above her hand. “Your sass is waaaaay up here.” She then moved her hand down towards the middle of her thigh. “I’m going to need you to bring it down her, kay?”

“So let me get this straight. You want me to stick my head in the lake, ask who pissed them off and possibly have them take their anger out on me?” Kenna questioned. “Yeah, okay glad to know you care about my safety” She laced her hands behind her back and rocked back and forth on her feet. “Besides the best people to ask why the naiads might be angry would probably be the Stolls since they are the ones to cause trouble.”

“I’ve never really thought of it that way. But then again nicknames are usually created by other people.” That was definitely a new thought to keep in mind. “Oh I know! What about Art?” Alex moved to shake her head. “Actually that’s kind of stupid.” She tapped her chin with her pointer finger and furrowed her brow until a story she used to read came to her mind. “What about Captain? I know that may seem strange but your name just reminded me of a story I read when I was younger. Maybe you know it; it was The Three Musketeers.”

He laughed. “Know it? My parents literally named me after that character. They met while while doing a report on it together in high school. I couldn’t not know about it.” He shook his head. “I do like the story, though, but it’s been so important to my parents it kinda got pushed on me to know it well.” He shrugged. “Maybe not Captain…my cousin calls me Dart sometimes…”

“Oh that’s so cute!” Alex claimed. What most people didn’t know about her was that she was a total hopeless romantic and cute things such as High School sweethearts got her every time. “Hmm maybe I’ll call you Dart till I can come up with a cool nickname for you.” She gave him a faint smile.

Shane gently shook Kenna’s shoulder to wake her up. “I think my room is haunted, can I sleep in here tonight?”

“Shane it’s two in the morning.” She groaned. “You’re room...isn’t haunted.” She tried to find the energy to reply and even though she was complaining she moved over for him anyway.
