Fanfict- Continuation of “The Shape of Water”
My ears ringing from the multiple gunshots and my body burning from wounds. But then the ringing starts to muffle out. The ringing stops. At first there was silence, then the whisper of a bubble popping followed by a symphony of water splashing through my ears. The ringing replaced with echoes of waves crashed inside my head. The burning wounds began to cool and grow numb. Instead I began to focus on the tight pressure inside my ribcage as I use up the last bit of oxygen in my lungs. I open my eyes, wincing at the salt. Its blurry, but it's definitely him, my love. I enjoy his slippery embrace, his skin pressed against mine. I cough releasing the last reserve of my oxygen. I began to panic.
‘Great’, I think to myself, ‘finally with my man and now I’m going to drown. Well fuck it, I’m going to suck his face before I drown.’
I grab both of my hands and wrap them around his neck then proceed to suck the life out him. My vision begins to blur. But then something on my neck feels weird. You know that feeling when you have a piece of skin hanging off of you and you can just feel it flapping about unsecured? I had that feeling in about 3 different places on both sides of my neck. Just before I faint my body’s natural instinct kicks in and I gasp for air. I feel the water rush into my mouth but I also feel it spill out the sides of my neck. Even weirder I don’t feel light headed and my lungs filled back up.
‘I CAN BREATH UNDER WATER’ I thought baffled.
I stare into my loves glistening eyes and sign to him that I can breathe. He stares back confused. I laugh and point to my neck. He nods seeming to understand. I do the sign once more, teaching him what it means. He does the same sign back to me. This time I nod in approval.
‘This is going to work, he has I a lot to learn’, pondering our future, ‘But on the other hand I am dating a south american god’
We continue our descent to the bottom of the ocean but as we swim farther the pressure begins to hurt. I try to pry my hand away to sign to him that the pressure is hurting my ears and head. However I can’t get his attention. I began to squirm and tense up under the pressure. Finally he notices and looks up at me. He frees my hand and stares confused. I point to my ears and sign the word for pain. He understands and a look of sorrow brushes over his face. What's wrong I sign to him. He just begins to back away slowly. His faces turns from sorrow to horror. The once moonlit water turn dark. I look up at the umbra of a giant being. My love now turns and goes for a full sprint away from me. The umbra clears and the moonlight hits the figure of a great white shark. The shark darks after him and I lose them both in sea of green.
Months pass as I add to the salt filled water with my tears mourning the loss of my love. Until one day I wake up abnormally sick. I feel like there is a parasite growing inside me. Each day I wake up sicker and sicker. Mourning turns into despair as I realize I am all alone. On top of that this all fish diet has me gaining a lot of weight. Today however I felt a kick in my stomach. Maybe I am not all alone. Maybe I’m pregnant.
