A beaming smile formed when he saw Denis. “Well hello there, hot lifeguard #2″ he said and tilted his head to the side. “I have been good. What about you?” a country club may not be the setting you initially thought you would see Amado. But he was here with a friend, promising to be her platonic date for the evening. Besides free snacks, how could he say no?

Denis smiles wide when his Gallagher friend plays along. He can’t afford to break his cover, but he also can’t not stop and catch up with Amado. “I can totally tell, because your hair looks amazing. I’ve been good, too. I passed all my classes, and I’m getting closer to the moon, and someone gave me a record player, but I only have one record. It’s The Addams Family (1991) Soundtrack. Oh, and I am an aqua-aerobics instructor in the mornings. Which is literally my dream job. We should hang out. I’ve missed you!”

having been invited by a relative at the last minute, mags was surprised to see a familiar face. she smiles widely, “well, hello hot lifeguard number two. i’ve been good! i just gotta put on some sunscreen because i forgot to do it earlier and prolonged exposure to the sun could cause anomalies in an otherwise healthy body.” she paused. “how did you end up working here?

“I’m glad to hear that!” He voiced, hugging her beautiful face. Wishing there was more gardens around, so he could ask her to go flower picking. “I can help you with that, if you’d like.” Denis offered. “I did here about that. Someone also said that too much sunscreen is bad..?” He asked, curiously. “Oh, I just came in and pretended to be a lifeguard. It’s a trick my cousin Abe showed me. Now I’m running an aqua aerobics class at noon. Do you remember Alex Mueller from Gallagher? I’m trying to find him.” Another whisper.

Denis is at a country club, working as a lifeguard for the summer. He spots someone from Gallagher, and immediately rushes over. “Hiiii! I’m undercover as ‘hot lifeguard #2’.” Whispering the last bit. “How’ve you been?”

Denis instantly stops to listen. Continuing to eat his baggy of snacks, as he does. “Um, hi. I have many questions. Firstly, why aren’t you the first Gigi to pop up when you google Gigi Brandt? Secondly, what kind of sympathy gifts do you like?”

“So, do you think we’re still getting some big end of the year party?” Because she is leaving Gallagher but she’d like to at least get to dress up one last time.

“Definitely. I really really hope so, anyway. So many people are graduating. They should go out with a bang... or something. Do you know....” he thinks for a moment. “Kassandra? I think she’s in charge of the parties. We should talk to her.”

“Was there another zombie attack?” Its the first thing he thinks of from the woman’s statement. And yes, he’s slightly disappointed if that’s the case because he has a plan and everything.

“Who?” He asks, the confusion very clear on his face. More so than usual. He doesn’t even know what he means by the question. Who is she talking about? Who is she talking to? Him, he assumes, but he has no clue what what’s even going on.

“hypothetically, if i wanted to sneak off campus for like one to two hours, would you be down to help? i can fit inside a duffle bag.” she has not checked but one can safely assume. / @gallagherstart​

"Sure. I was going to film an audition for The Real World tv show, but then I found out they don’t do that anymore. So, I’m totally available. What are you sneaking off campus for? Are you, like, meeting someone from tinder?”

Planning make out sessions ahead and now a waitlist? This school really was a place for firsts it seemed. It amused him how people came up with these things, it was almost beautiful in a way. “Oh please do. Been a while since someone showed me a good party trick” he said. As he continued to grab all the snacks and food items he was craving, he then smiled to himself. Amado then looked over his shoulder at Denis. “Not everyone is all that into music, you know? And that is fine. When you are raised by two parents who are also musicians, you kinda learn things along the way” he didn’t get the chance to talk about his childhood all that often but whenever he did, he always felt this wave of comfort wash over him. “Fuck man, it’s been forever since I had a good sundae” the mention caused his stomach to scream out. Shaking his head, he laughed softly. “No no. It is a very valid reason but it’s not one of mine. I just like to keep things casual and chill. Not have big parties and stuff”

“Okay,” He paused in thought. “I wonder if I can do it with cherries... Grapes aren’t in season, right now.” He took the jar of maraschino cherries, anyway. He could show Amado two party tricks with one jar. “This is going to be an epic sleep over.” He almost wishes they had invited more people, but it was not planned and this made it more more special. “Yeah, my parents are super into music.” Or at least he remembers them being. Sometimes he wonders if what he remembers of them are false memories, things he wants to be true about them. “Just listening and dancing to it. They aren’t, like, musicians, or anything. Did you learn to play any instruments from your parents?” He asks. “Me either. I love strawberry syrup and sprinkles and Reese’s cups and Cap’t Crunch! But not all at once.” He chuckled. “What toppings are your favorites?” All the fun of sundaes was in the toppings, at least in his opinion. “Oh, okay. That’s good.” Because no on should be sad on their birthday. “I’m the opposite. I love celebrating . It’s like a holiday just for you. But anyway, I think we have enough snacks. Let’s get our PJs and start looking at memes!”

“As long as you two are safe and sound, I will support it wholeheartedly. Love is something the world needs more of” he said and nodded. He may not have followed all the footsteps his parents left behind but he would always hold onto his hippie roots and continue being one as he got older and older. “Cherry stem? Now that is one hell of a partytrick. You should show me sometime” he nodded. Rubbing his arm as he continued to walk alongside Denis, he smiled and chuckled. “Projection room? Don’t give me too many ideas” Amado gently warned and then chuckled, showing that he was just messing with the other. “Yeah basically. It’s one of their favorite bands” when the other asked him about Woodstock, his eyes widened. “It’s a pretty big deal in the music world, yeah. All I have to go by is the pictures and stories” and what stories they were. Once they finally reached their destination, Amado started to collect the snacks he craved the most. “Perfect. 2 am is always my snack time” he chuckled. “I am just not into making birthdays into a big deal, especially not when it comes to myself. When it’s my friends, I try to make sure they feel loved and special. But I personally am content with just a cake and hanging out with dear friends”

“Thanks! We will... hopefully.” As in, hopefully they get another chance to plan a make out session. “That reminds me, I’m on Harlowe’s making out waitlist-- she has a waitlist because a lot of people want to make out-- And I haven’t asked her about it in a while.” Denis thought a day would come where he’d get to make out with Harlowe. “I can show you tonight, if we find any cherries.” He looked through the pantry for some. “My other party tricks are impersonations, and fitting 22 grapes in my mouth without choking.” He commented, incase Amado wanted to see either of those. Denis enjoyed showing them off. He chuckled with the other. “What other bands are their favorites.” He asked curiously. “Wow, I should probably look it up.” He commented, making a mental note of it. If it was a big deal, then he wanted to know more. Denis was just a very curious guy. “We can make 2 AM sundaes!” He grinned, finally finding the cherries. “Oh, it’s not because you’re sad, right? Because I’ve met a lot of people who don’t like to celebrate their birthday because the day makes them sad.” He didn’t want to pry if that was the case, but he hoped it wasn’t. He could never relate, though. Birthday were always a big deal for him. They had been for as long as he could remember.

“Horror comedy.” Orion nods, mostly because the first movie that comes to mind is The Babysitter which they think was hilarious. If they’ve seen Nate then they clearly forgot who he is, offering Denis a shrug in response. “Are you making that assumption purely on looks? Have you tried throwing garlic at him?”

“Yes, vampires are 40% hotter than humans.” And so is Nate, to Denis. “But I haven’t tried proving it because I don’t want to expose him.... except I think I just did... Just pretend I didn’t say that.... So, you like horror films?”

“So, clearly Gallagher is more horror movie than action or romantic comedy but what sub genre do you think it is? Psychological, slasher, paranormal?” They’ve been thinking about this ever since their conversation with Lex and the unlucky person that’s in the common room with them is the only person they can think to ask for their opinion now.

“Can it be, like, a horror-comedy? Or dark comedy. I like those.” They had everything a horror movie had, but not as serious. “Probably supernatural, too. Have you seen Nate? He’s clearly a vampire.” He whispers. “There’s actually a lot of sub genres that could fit.”

‘   oh. right. duh.   ’ a complete brain fart on his part, but now he knows it really works, practically saw it in action. ‘   yeah it is. it feels good.   ’ and saying he feels good makes him feel even better. it just sucks that a lot of other people aren’t feeling so swell right now. brows perk, a little taken aback by the compliment, only because he’s not sporting a look different than any other day. to make sure, he even peers down, still, he has no reason not to believe denis. then he turns around really quickly, turtle-backed with his rucksack, reaching his hand behind to show the keychain dangling from the smallest pocket. ‘   it’s new. fluffy kirby keychain.   ’ then he’s whipped back around, definitely not giving denis nearly enough time to even inspect it, but he doesn’t want to hog the conversation. ‘   oh, double perks. that’s good. we should have ice cream at the next meet. i can help make some.   ’ his gaze drifts, like he’s following a fly before it lands back on denis, because dreams are serious business. ‘   was it a dream you knew was going to turn into a nightmare ? you can tell, they have an ominous air. you don’t have to tell me, but what did you dream about ?   ’

“Are you graduating this semester?” Denis questions. A tinge of worry in his voice. It seems like everyone he feels close to is graduating this year. He’s happy for them, but he’s going to miss them. “I think they call it a fit.” He adds at Soren’s pause (though he’s definitely questioning if that’s right because a fit could also be like a tantrum), before he’s shown the keychain. “Coool. I like it. Fluffy anything is nice.” He’s about to make it dangle some more with a tap, before Soren is swung back around. “Okay. Let’s do it!” He says almost instantly. “What’s your favorite flavor?” He asks. Denis has experimented with different flavored ice cream but this could be their chance. “Oh, then probably not. I didn’t get the ominous air. I dreamt about being back in the circus and being at spy prep.... And people I knew from there....” People he hadn’t seen, or even thought about, in a long time. “And there was a record player...”

“ evil fairies? i always thought, if they existed, they’d be on our side. ” although, he could hardly blame them. does that mean fairies and aliens are on the same side? he’s not sure why he’s thinking about this. “ august the sixteenth. what about you? ” he asks. “ that’s really cool. i’ve never been to the circus before. that must’ve helped you a bit with boot camp. ” he says. “ ah, nice. hopefully they’ll keep the skies clear for the next few weeks. ” he’s pretty sure that’s not how the weather works, but. “ i try to avoid it if i can. but, i guess, if i had to choose, then tactful. what about you? ”

He nods, but he feels like he’s already said too much. So he doesn’t elaborate. “You don’t believe in fairies?” He questions. “Aw, that’s during summer. Which means I might not get to see you. Mine’s on April fourteenth. Which means it’s my birthday month. Which means I still get to celebrate!” He cheered. “It’s really fun if you like bright lights and fun shows, and not afraid of clowns, or stripes. Oh yeah, it really does.” Although this first thought was that it helped with climbing and swinging from trees. “I hope so too. I like it when it’s warmer out.” Denis mentions. “I chose tactful. Although I couldn’t remember the last time I delivered criticism. But I feel like I’d try not to be harsh or direct...” He nodded before looking down at the results. “Okay, you got Ant-Man. That’s Josh from Clueless.” He sighs dreamily. “Ant-Man is loyal and caring.” He begins reading. “A man of honor and good morals. He’ll tease out a darker side to you, but always with good intentions. You’ll never have to question how he feels because when he looks at you, you’ll know you’re one of the most important people to him.”
