I found this video in myspare time and I wanted to add it to our powerpoint to add some comedic relief from all the business we have in the slide. I was cracking up so I put it in our first slide as an introduction to our project.

Slide and Presentation
our presentation is in a few days and Sarah and I haven’t really seen each other in a week because of APs which is making our presentation a lot harder to make. We scheduled it purposefully to be after AP weeks so we wouldn’t be stressed but i guess we didn’t really think it through enough. Even so, we have mostly everything done, My struggle now it so try to make the presentation as enjoyable as possible. I have a feeling people aren’t going to be as infatuated with it as we were but thats okay, at least we had fun.
Next year, I will be attending Syracuse University for their Bandier Program in the music industry. One aspect of the music industry is live performance (not actually being the performer, working to set it all up). I am not sure where I would like to work in the industry, but I do have some live performance experience from concerts and mainly the shows. In order to spice up our presentation a bit, we decided that a small performance would be very nice.
Emily taught us a song. This is another video I took during The Lord Bless You and Keep You.
I recently posted about all the newly boxed music we have. Now how would people be able to know that it was there? I needed to update the massive choir music database. I added at least 20 new songs to the list, along with fixing typos in names and putting new boxes of music in slots that had nothing there. We haven’t found any large amounts of a single song without a box in a long time, so I think that we may have FINALLY seen every sheet of music (other than the ones that were recently purchased!).
We recently put up many more shelves and emptied out the box of new music boxes, because having a large box of boxes clutters the room. We put all of the new boxes onto the shelves with unmarked tabs for future labeling. Throughout this process, Emily and I boxed a ton of new music. Most recently, I put Epitaph for Moonlight and Even When He Is Silent.
I am excited that I FINALLY finished my work with the singles! The mixed choir pieces are alphabetized and put in boxes, and the women’s and men’s singles are boxed as well (separate boxes for mens and womens). I decided that the best place for these newly boxed singles would be underneath the black cart that stays in the music room all the time.
Say Something
so sarah and I decided on a song to perform for our wise project that we could both perform in and I could teach. There are only 3 of us soit is easier to get everyone together and its pretty simple to teach so we can really work on the performance aspect which I havent taught much of so Im excited for that. were still not sure how to present it, in the wise room or in a video. Also, we have only a few more days than a week to get this powerpoint done.
chamber rehearsal
last monday, we rehearsed the lord bless you and keep you again. It was a bit of a challenge because the choir had already learned and performed it in canada so they weren’t as open to working on it so it was a bit talkative. besides that, i worked on the nitty gritty stuff and i really hope they remember that for next time.

Life changing experience
I had my first experience conducting in front of an audience… and at a BASILICA!!. It was both amazing and terrifying at the same time. The only way I could really describe the feelings I had while conducting is to compare it to being a wizard. In this comparison, my hands/baton is my wand, and my conducting is the magic. I felt I had so much control over the sounds being produced and the feeling in the room. I like to think of the lord bless you and keep wou as an emotional song, so singing it in these beautiful churches made it even more powerful. After I took my first bow after conducting, I felt the feeling. You know the feeling where you know this is what you’re supposed to do? I smiled at the choir, they all smiled back at me, and I placed a hand to my heart (conductor language for “u guys made me really happy and proud”). I knew that they respected me and enjoyed having me as their interim teacher.
Canada conducting techniques
I asked mrs Ferraro very close to Canada if I could conduct and work on the lord bless you and keep you. Because of that, I only had one rehearsal to do it. That rehearsal video was posted by Sarah (I couldn’t figure out how to post it myself). Since then, we went to Canada and I improved greatly. From watching the 2 videos, I realized I fixed my body and head bobbing, and gotten the choir more comfortable in my conducting. In the video Sarah posted, it took the choir a long time to come in with my pickup and long to start phrases, therefore the piece moved slower. I definitely fixed that by working with them in Canada and now they respond more to my conducting.
I began putting the singles into their boxes. They will be put on the rolling black cart. Most of the boxes have 2 or 3 letters of music, except for the letters with a TON of music (A, S, T, etc.). Also, we put up some more shelving and rearranged the ‘kitchen’ shelf. The kitchen shelf (mugs, napkins, plastic cutlery, teas - it's all there for musical purposes) previously took up 3 levels, and we condensed it to 1 so that there would be a lot more space for music.
To make our presentation more than “we cleaned a room, ta da”, I thought it would be a good idea to put together a quartet or quintet to perform an acapella piece, taught by Emily. This will test Emily’s ability to teach a new piece to students, which is part of her future career (music education). Doing this will test my ability to put together rehearsals and coordinate a group, along with my ability to be understanding in the face of people’s conflicts. I dealt with rehearsals and coordinating a lot during Les Miserables season, but I realized that I became frustrated easily when someone had a conflict. I plan on working on that during this aspect of our project.
Today, we started to make our slideshow for our final presentation. We are making it on google slides rather than a program like prezi or powerpoint, because we are both most familiar with the controls. Also, unlike powerpoint, we are easily able to work together on it at the same time.
My next step is to put all the mixed choir singles into their designated box. This probably will not take too long. I have decided not to create the database, because I realized that there are little to no occasions of people looking for a specific single copy. Most people are going through the singles to see what we have, rather than looking for a specific song. The effort of creating the database is a waste of time, sadly. Therefore, the boxes will do.
