The Songs of Jesus
July 11th Devotional:
“Don’t entrust yourself to the hands of any other, not even your own life. Trust yourself to Him and you shall not want.” -TK
Yesterday my apartment got ac
good/bad reminder
while taking a survey about how past abuse shapes current behavior, i realized how blissful my life has been. it was a clear reminder that for some survey participants, they have to check off different areas of physical and emotional abuse from many sources of “loved ones” as children
Christianity doesn’t make you popular
working in a liberal campus setting
kinda funny story...?
life tip:
if your boss(es) invite you to a friendly competition that you happen to excel at (and it doesnt seem like they do), read the atmosphere, determine if you can persuadingly throw the game/competition if you need to, and then either accept or deflect the invitation if you need more time to come up with a game plan.
how i learned this:
got invited to play volleyball with my co-workers at work, they’re all kinda my boss since im the intern. theyre not bad, but long story short they got absolutely creamed and it probably wasnt fun for them (haha??? not that funny actually)
note to self: next game convince them that you got lucky and that you dont normally play that well
so don’t cream your bosses at something if they invite you cordially to play
do you ever want to check up on someone but it’s just not ur place anymore
when u tryna apply to be productive but penal substitution got you like:

it is so hot i cannot concentrate
avengers infinity war: SPOILER ALERT
10 minutes into the movie
Tony Stark: i want to have a kid!
30 minutes into the movie
Peter Parker: sorry i came aboard the ship, but im basically your kid anyways cuz i’ve never had any father figure in my life
end of movie
Peter dies. Tony’s character development is off the freaking charts (throw back to 2008 iron man and you’ll see it)
what the heck MCU you’re poppin off rn
Development for Higher Education
the development community and their vision for Michigan is absolutely amazing and a privilege to be a part of in my current career phase.
while fundraising for UM seems like a pretty morally questionable cause to spend thousands and thousands of dollars on, hearing the vision people fight for has changed my perspective on it.
“We fundraise to give opportunities for the next generation to learn and change the world” -anonymous development employee
and while i dont disagree with a lot of peoples’ opinions of higher education fundraising (many argue that they would rather give to causes they feel more passionate about or that will impact “less fortunate” individuals or people groups) all im saying is that a deeper understanding on the “why” helps give perspective shift
When you feel the sting of seemingly pointless pain, keep trusting God. Just because it feels pointless doesn’t mean that it is pointless.
i had to repost
sometimes im unsure if i have anyone to talk to. either i dont feel close enough to divulge information or they just dont want to listen

you cant hold up the shield of faith on your own, trust me I’ve tried
