Ok, I adore the Frogs to begin with, but the sheer finesse and dedication of this one boggles my mind.
me: this is cute and precious
my brain: 45 years ago this person could've made a public access television show that ran for half a decade on the strength of this concept with the right framing device and it would've been paid for with federal arts grants and maybe even national syndication rights. now they're begging for a single minute of engagement on tiktok in the hopes that maybe someday the abstract metrics of digital media platforms will translate into a tangible career
me: yeah me: cute frog though
my brain: it is a cute frog
"Be careful venturing too deep, darling, things aren't always what they seem in the dark..." I remember reading a note in one of the art books that the eels' body is luminescent since they live in the deep sea and I just...went a little out of control again and my victim is Jade.
This was so HARD, I don't draw underwater things, but I think this turned out really nice <3 I especially had fun adding the speckles to Jade's body.
do it grieving
do it while the ground falls out from under you; do it while everything you loved goes up in smoke; do it while the dream of your future is still burning embers around you; build anew on the hot ashes of everything you worked for; keep going, keep loving, keep living, even as all you want is to turn back (there is no turning back; it is gone already); do it through grief, which feels like fear in the body

The tag I have seen most often on this post is "I needed to hear this," and I am so, so grateful to have said something that was needed. These words came out of the depths of my own grief, and I am so grateful to have made this small connection with others in the midst of it. Grief is isolating and indescribable, but none of us are alone.
That said, these tags were what I needed to hear:
we're all gonna make it
it's okay if you can't see how yet. you don't have to believe in better. for now it is enough to just keep going, and eventually the path will emerge. you are not alone. you are not lost in the woods forever. keep going. I love you.
I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO UNMUTE,

adulthood notes:
The Rodeo Rule: you only have to do it for the first time once.
The Rohan Rule: if you are at a social function full of new people and you want to be liked, find someone doing important work like setup or food prep and offer to help.
The Tutorial Mode Rule: to navigate an unfamiliar situation where you fear you will mess up an interaction, preface the interaction by mentioning that you've never done this before, and let them know if you have a specific concern or question.
The Rocket Science Rule: most new things you want to try seem very complicated but are simple when taken step by step.
The [X] Will Remember That Rule: if you need to make small talk with the same person on a regular basis, try to save one fact or current event in their life from a given conversation and bring it up next time you talk.
The Cool Binder Rule: by wearing clothes and accessories that are to your taste instead of trying to blend in, people will be more likely to compliment you and show interest in you as a person.
The Rodeo Rule:
you only have to do it
for the first time once.
Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.

You cannot hide this in the tags, bestie. This is too lovely to keep a secret.
It may not be apparent to everyone how to easily find out who wrote the poem in the tags, so: @mumblesplash
(an instant-classic example of a Tumblr thread where so many people add value!)
As someone who was alive when Bob Ross (and William Alexander before him ā thatās where the approach is from) was on PBS, I can 100% testify that you can paint along with him.
You may need to learn how to set up your paints and such⦠but this is what people did, live, while the show aired. Thatās what the show was for. I had family members create lovely works of art they enjoyed, which I still have on my walls, because William Alexander and Bob Ross both said:
SCREW METICULOUS CLASSICAL ART PRACTICES ā JUST GRAB A PALETTE KNIFE AND BIG OLD BRUSH AND PAINT!
They freed a whole generation of people who were taught to paint detail and realism and exact representation of reality ā people who largely gave up this kind of thing because it got tedious.
I watched the joy of family members as they rediscovered art as a messy fun spontaneous half hour activity.
Give it a try.
āIt just means you have to work double as hard as most people!ā
Well maybe I donāt WANT to work double as hard as abled people!! Maybe I deserve a BREAK!! Maybe Iāve been working MORE THAN double as hard for MY WHOLE LIFE and itās led me to immense burnout & caused me to develop several MORE disabilities!! Maybe I should be ACCOMMODATED so I donāt have to KILL MY BODY AND BRAIN over trying to do what abled people can do!! Maybe I DONāT have to work double as hard!! Maybe if thereās the option to let me NOT work double as hard, I should have it, because Iām already working double as hard JUST TO SURVIVE!!
Why do you think disabled people deserve less rest than mentally & physically abled people?
cats donāt understand what it means when you give them kisses ):
good news tho!! Ā they understand it 2 a point (i was distraught about this post so i looked it up)
cats donāt kiss like humans but they do appreciate human touch and feel loved when u kiss and pet them
they donāt understand kisses but they accept them as forms of affection n love
ur cat knows u love them
You can also help them understand by mixing kisses with rubbing your cheek/nose/forehead over the top of their head, their cheek, or down their shoulders, just like cats rub against each other and humans to show affection.Ā Also gently bonking foreheads to imitate the āI love you please pet meā headbutt. Brushing & scratching at itchy spots for them imitates the grooming that cats who live together in colonies do for each other. Basically just try to find hygienic ways of imitating cat social behaviors, short of actual licking, lol.Ā
My cat will touch her nose to mine & rub her cheek across my face, which allows me to plant a kiss on her cheek. When sheās sitting in my lap, sheāll tip her head back until I lean down and kiss or nuzzle the top of her head. Iāve even found her occasionally trying to imitate theĀ āmwah!ā sound of my kisses, where sheāll nuzzle my face and make little chirping āmah! mah!ā sounds. Cats are pretty smart little social creatures; theyāll figure out how to speak your language, especially if you put in the effort to speak theirs.Ā
Cats absolutely can learn what kissing is and one of ours stubbornly solicits it by jamming herself under our chins and tipping her little head to the side with her ears flat to make a landing zone. Only little kisses with little kissy sounds satisfy her.
If given the chance to learn, and not forced into accepting it, they understand what kisses mean perfectly well. I promise they do.
