How i feel reading every book other than the ones assigned for school
I'm dreading reading qoaad because lord of shadows already broke my heart into a million pieces and god knows what this will do to me. It's such a bigback book too like😭😭 it's so intimidating, it's screaming at me
happy pride to my suspiciously close coworkers
happy pride to my suspiciously close coworkers
Turns out going to sleep at a reasonable time and waking up at a reasonable time does actually improve your mood and energy levels fuck they were right
obsessed with the fact that hannibal is technically a horror show but half the fandom watches it like it’s a slowburn romcom with occasional cannibalism
Really the only horror part I can think of is the cliff scene…
Do you think Magnus his eyes enlarge like a cat whenever he sees Alec?
Just like this, it's a science. :D
"If you died," he said, "a part of me would die too. So remember, Magnus. It's not just your life. It's my life too." -Alec Lightwood, The Lost Book of The White.
These two istg😭😭😭😭
It's pride but i still am terrified to express myself to most peoole i know irl because of how incredibly homophobic my country and especially my family are
Wanted to join in on this trend with some of my favorite gays <3
Heated Rivalry (2025 - ) | S01E06 - "The Cottage" Shadowhunters (2016 - 2019) | S01E12 - "Malec"
either of them, depending on the episode
I see so many arguments over what is and isn't "good queer representation" that really just boil down to "y'all are actually arguing over matters of taste and genre preference, which is incredibly subjective and personal."
Worldbuilding where being queer is normalized and queerphobia has no impact on the plot? THAT'S FINE. Worldbuilding that includes queerphobia and tackles the effects of it as part of the story? THAT'S ALSO FINE.
Low-stakes queer romcom where the characters are fluffy and cute? THAT'S COOL. Messy queer drama with toxic people who fuck each other over and clash repeatedly? THAT'S ALSO COOL.
Stories that center the characters' queerness, show a trans character's transition, and are about the queerness as much as the rest of the plot? AWESOME. Stories where the characters' queerness isn't treated as a big deal, and have trans characters whose transition happened before the story entirely? ALSO AWESOME.
You may PREFER one thing or another, but it is actually good to have all these things. It's about variety. It's about queer characters being allowed to exist without censorship. It's about queer artists getting to make things without being told we're a "niche issue" or "adult content." It's about having as many goddamn cakes as the bakery can produce.
At the end of the day, I'd prefer a media landscape with fifty pieces of problematic queer representation over a media landscape with one single piece of queer representation that's trying (and usually failing) to be 100% perfect for everything and everyone.
Storygraph friends anyone? my un is the same as here
So far I'm really enjoying the Mark and Ty connection. It's clear in COHF that even before Mark was taken he was closer to Ty than any of his other siblings, but I like how LM is creating parallels between Ty's autistic traits and Mark's faerie traits to show why they understand each other so well. It highlights that Ty doesn't socialize "wrong," and that there are in fact places and people who play by a lot of the same social rules that he does (for instance, extreme literalism and complexity in casual speech). While Ty and Mark obviously are not the same, I think it's significant that since they're both used to being misunderstood they make more of an effort to understand each other. Ty is always loved by his siblings, but he still constantly has to explain himself to everyone other than Livvy. Mark seems to be one of the only people with whom he communicates easily, so of course he values that connection.
I also find it interesting that Julian is telling Mark to act "normal" in this scene, because he's consistently very clear that he doesn't want anybody implying that Ty isn't normal. I think that's probably because Julian sees Ty's autistic behavior as normal for Ty, while he still thinks that Mark's faerie behavior is weird and wrong for Mark. This is another example of how the Cold Peace has completely isolated an entire culture, since we see in COB that Jace is comfortable conversing with faeries. Shadowhunters used to recognize faerie speak as almost a sort of dialect that they would learn in order to clearly communicate, but now young Shadowhunters like Julian just hear it as weird. There's no interest in understanding this form of speech because it's seen as inherently violent and unnatural, which just adds to Mark's lack of belonging.
Also also, I really like that Ty is stepping in to defend Mark in this scene. So far we've seen a lot of Mark looking out for Ty (before, during, and after his time with the Hunt), but in this case it's clear that the protectiveness goes both ways. Ty is the younger brother, but he's still got autonomy and he still knows how to advocate for the people he cares about. It's probably extra hurtful for him to hear Julian talking like this, since he expects Julian to be the one protecting him from people who think he's weird, so I like that he's willing to stand up to his older brother/parental figure to defend Mark and also (in a way) to defend himself.
Anyways, what I'm saying is that I hope we get Mark and Ty brotherly moments in TWP. I think Mark's mixture of chaotic decision making and absolute love for Ty will give him an interesting perspective on whatever Ty ends up doing.
