TMK Chapter 24!

Chapter 24 has started updating...on Patreon. Yes, I'm afraid for now it's behind a paywall as my part-time job schedules are erratic and I can't guarantee update consistency on the website. Also, I could use all the extra money I can get right now lol. I've been out of full-time work for almost 2.5 years now. It sucks!

The chapter will be posted to the site eventually, but for now it will be on Patreon. There are currently four tiers, from $1 a month to $10 a month. $4 a month will get you all the pages as soon as they're done.

If you check the latest update on the website, someone in the comments was generous enough to gift a few subscriptions! Check it out!

I know everyone is dealing with stuff right now, so I appreciate any support. I'm extremely grateful for my readers and their patience.

But don't be surprised if I try hawking my Patreon more from now on lol.

Good question, actually! I post the occasional update on Blueseky but forget about Tumblr unless I have art to post.

While there's no definitive restart date for TMK, progress is happening! The next chapter is written, so thumbnails and actual pages are not far behind. I'll definitely post something here when the comic is ready to go again.

Drawing of my character Ria from my Roman Britain Werewolf the Apocalypse game. I found a perfect reference pic from True Ref when I remembered Ria has a small handheld bronze mirror in her magic bag. I also wanted to highlight her different earrings. She has one pearl one that can tell her if someone is lying, and her other one doesn't exist but I like the idea of using a feather from an eagle owl (an evil eagle owl!!) that was left behind for her to find. I think having one stylish earring and something more "primitive" suits her character.

I am late again as usual, and this isn't a new image for the occasion, but it remains a favorite. Coal is demisexual and while his reaction here is more because of his previous violent interactions with wannabe murderers that Saoirse witnessed, he'd probably react similarly in a normal setting anyway.

Heyy I'm a long time reader of tmk and I'm pretty sure today is the anniversary. Happy 15 years of tmk! I've enjoyed reading it for such a long time, thank you for sharing this story!

Aw, thank you so much! I wish I had been in a better headspace to do something fun for 15 years, but maybe I'll manage something for its sweet 16, haha.

It is funny to realize the comic is now as old as the main character lol.

Two months ago an old coworker ordered a sketch version of TMK Volume One for their kid, who requested Ratatoskr for the sketch. I'd never thought of what Ratatoskr might look like in TMK because there's no plans for him to show up, but I had fun figuring him out.

To make up for the long wait, and to thank someone I know personally for their support, I decided to add a little watercolor drawing to the package. I need to practice more with the medium, but there's something so nice about the brightness watercolors bring.

In all, the tools I used were: watercolor paints, watercolor pencils for the lines, Posca metallic paint for the torc and ring, and a little bit of ink to make the eye blacker.

My library is doing a contest where you create art relating to a book and doing any non-comic thing feels like such a rare occurrence for me that I wanted to try something. This is really more of a mock cover than an illustration but The Power of the Dog is one of my favorite books and I always wanted to do something for it.

The colors might seem random but they're actually inspired by the original cover art:

Fun fact: the cover artist, Milton Glaser, is the same guy who designed the "I Love NY" and DC Comics logos?? Perhaps it does always come back to comics.

I generally can't tell the difference between the hummingbirds that visit my feeder, but there is One bird with a notch in her beak that tells me she is a bad bitch you don't want to cross.

All hummingbirds don't share (those pics of a bunch of them on one feeder are fake) but she REALLY doesn't share.
