@Gil - Out of Town Expedition
Noticing his slight irritation at her careless remark, her back straightened and she waved her hands. “No, no! I don’t think you’re stuffy at all!” She really wasn’t making the situation any better. “I just know that sometimes with a job like that, it can be hard to want to deal with people.” Though it was true that whenever she had heard Owen talk about him, he teased him for being a bit introverted.
She giggled along with him as he continued, trying to imagine what it would be like. Owen most definitely didn’t seem suited to a life of paperwork.
He gives a nod. "Yes, I understand. I know where such a thought would come from. Believe me, I think I've heard every flavor of mockery. I don't usually go out and have fun in the same sense as those who work up.. in the mines or carpentry, or even the other businesses in the town. Maybe I prefer to read rather than go to the bar, or otherwise," he said.
He gave a bit of a chuckle. "Though if I managed to pull that off, I'm sure they'd insist that I take their job, and I hardly doubt I would be able to do that. I appreciate the work they do, I just don't think someone like me would be able to handle it."
