The fact that the creators of arcane, artists and writers, didn’t dumb/water down their work is what makes it a masterpiece. They didn’t take the audience into account when they created their art. They put their heart and soul into it. You rarely see that in todays entertainment.They took 8 (9?) yrs to make 18 episodes! Everybody agrees the artwork is beautiful, next level quality. But I want to assert that the writing is also. The difference in the way they are perceived is in the fact that the writers didn’t take into account the audience. They didn’t write an easy to understand story where motivation/actions are laid out step by step. They told the story they wanted to tell the way they wanted to tell it. They’re not trying to hold anybody’s hand or spoon feed us. That’s why so many ppl are complaining about ‘bad writing’. To be frank, it’s just going over their heads. Because you don’t have the media literacy, maturity or life experiences to understand a story doesn’t mean it’s bad, it means it’s too much for you. You literally just ‘don’t get it’.

Consider that Arcane didn't abandon its themes of class warfare in season 2, but that it stayed true to its original intent: telling the story of the cyclical nature of violence, and how throughout all history, humanity still hasn't cracked the code in breaking it. Consider that this story was never meant to have a truly happy ending, and that when the writers said they were writing a tragedy, and that no one would truly be happy watching the end, they meant it.

This fandom is currently experiencing this weird phenomenon of labeling everything sad or frustrating that happens in Arcane as bad writing, instead of, oh I dunno, a tragedy?? Like Arcane always was in the first place???

Example: Zaun never truly achieving revolution or justice

Example: Piltover never truly receiving retribution for their dominion over Zaun

Example: Isha's death

Example: Ekko saving everyone yet having no one

Example: Jinx sacrificing herself for Vi and removing herself from her sister's life instead of fighting for a happy life together

Example: Vi grieving over ANOTHER loss of a parental figure and not listening to Jinx's warnings to walk away in the hexgates
