honestly twilight (the wc book, new prophecy arc 5th arc) is one of the worst wc books imo i know im one of the only people who detests this book but i just,,, absolutely dont like this book:

first of all, ashfurs character. surprisingly his character isnt the worst here (the third series is obviously where he turns to poop) but this is where he started. ashfur went from getting no screen time, no anything, to suddenly being squirrelflight’s best friend and adoring her. it wasnt even mentioned in anything other than a few scenes in starlight to suddenly them almost being mates (they werent, but the other characters interpreted it as such) in twilight like,,, honestly what the fuck

the hawkfrost-brambleclaw-squirrelflight drama was….pointless. it didnt really have a point. the whole reason why squirrelflight & brambleclaw fight is because of hawkfrost, but,,,, at the end of the book, brambleclaw still is talking to hawkfrost. squirrelflight never “gets over” her dislike for him. theres absolutely no resolution and it just makes brambleclaws character unsympathetic, squirrelflight seem like shes throwing a fit, etc. like it was out of nowhere and had no actual end.

crowfeather & leafpools relationship was, much like ashfur, out of nowhere when it gets to the depth that it does - in one book they meet, the next book they’re,,, in love. theyve seen each other like four times and now theyre in love. uh.

every other plot line takes a seat to the hawkfrost dynamic. why not take some time to build up cinderpelts death?? why not take time to show brightheart actually do medicine cat things (because remember how brightheart randomly was able to be a medicine cat in leafpools place for…some reason) why not show squirrelflight & hawkfrost interact? its like the hunter team just showed this dynamic but just expected us to buy it

the badger attack. that was…..kind of stupid. at first we’re lead to believe badgers are solitary and they dont have the same thought ability as our cat characters - but now they form in groups to attack. suddenly midnight decides to show up. it was random and like,,, could they not think of anything else.

honestly i know that some people like this book but its honestly one of my least favorite wc books. i think it was poorly written w/ absolute shitty characterizations.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who detests this book, I've reread every other book in TNP at least twice but I could just never get through this one or Starlight more than once :/

firestarkins: have probably read the entire series front to finish, personally own all the books. pretty laid back, tags triggers no matter what.

graystripekins: really jolly and just wanna have a good time no matter what. basically gets along w/ everyone.

ravenpawkins: probably have crytyped before/still do, really sweet but very picky w/ who they let follow them.

sandstormkins: pretty cool and laid back but also vagues a lot. like a lot. u dont somethin they dont like and they’ll vague u to hell and back.

tigerstarkins: probably have a gore sideblog, type in caps when they’re pissed, block u for saying u dont like a pizza topping they like.

bluestarkins: types w/ perfect grammar, kinda picky about who follows them, has “i hate thistleclawkins” as their blog title.

darkstripekins: super fucking gay. all they talk about is being gay. probably shitposts a lot but also gets really rude and vagues someone but deletes it 2 mins later.

jayfeatherkins: most of them aren’t even disabled but get really upset when u point that out, reblogs a shit ton of jayfeather art all day every day.

hollyleafkins: actually pretty chill, they have a “mean tag” and talk a lot of in depth shit about ashfur in those tags. pretty cool but have a big “dont follow if ur this kintype” list. ur kintype is probably on that list.

squirrelflightkins: really chill but HUGE shitposters. they talk about the most random shit and are super into sj stuff. have “i hate ashfur” somewhere on their blog, has a whole tag dedicated towards “negative ashfur thoughts”

ashfurkins: a huge grunge blog. probably has 3 vent blogs on the side, posts a lot of “im sorry’s” when talking about kin stuff. doesnt care who follows them.

lionblazekins: big furries for some reason, love making friends and are pretty friendly. get really defensive about lionblaze though and will write paragraphs about why u shouldnt hate him.

mapleshadekins: get along w/ a few select people, seem unapproachable but they’re actually pretty chill. they dont give a shit about what happened in their canon. they just dont, dont even bother asking about it.

brackenfurkins: pretty rare but are SUPER nice. they dont care who follows them, they’re just out to have a good time. know a shit ton of wc facts and love making friends.

one of my bigger critiques of wc has to be the whole thing where like…..the younger characters seem to always be smarter than the older, if that makes sense? like it’s something i’ve noticed throughout the more recent arcs, and like-

there’s a diff between showing “hey adults dont know everything” and that adults can be wrong and making older characters….downright stupid u feel. like in wc i can name multiple instances where adult characters seem to literally have no clue what the hell is going on compared to the more all knowing younger cast and like, that’d be cool and would be a nice step up if the writers didnt make the senior characters so…..bratty and clueless

like. in the scene of the last hope, where ivypool finds her father hiding in the undergrowth bc he’s scared of fighting the df - u’d think “oh well birchfall, since he’s much older than the other cats in this scene, would stand up and agree w/ his daughter and we’d see him take charge” - but that…never happens. he stays there and cowers and it makes no sense bc that’s not his character.

it’s stuff like that that i notice throughout reading wc and it’s….grating. we have so many older characters that erin hunter makes into clueless characters just to make the younger cast look good and it doesnt work bc it’s not in a way that’s supposed to make the younger kids reading the series feel empowered - it just doesnt make sense.

Consider Warriors Amino: I feel like it should be okay for people to be uncomfortable around groups of people, including the lgbt community. Some people grow up in families or subcultures where the lgbt community is seen negatively, and while that's not okay, it can be hard to overcome all the bias instilled in you from birth. it's a long process to do so and can be uncomfortable while you internally battle with it. exclusion isn't okay, but people should still be allowed to feel awkward.

like i get that some people are raised like that, i really do. but you need to take ownership for it, because as a straight person, you probably have found yourself agreeing w/ them, thinking homophobic thoughts and saying “yeah they ARE unnatural!”

and you need to….stop blaming your parents for it. take ownership and just admit “yeah i need to grow”

A lesbian couple gets a shocking surprise one day when God (played by Laverne Cox) shows up at their door. Upset at how humans had turned her message of love and acceptance into a message of hate and discrimination, she decides it’s time to send Jesus back to earth and wants the lesbian couple to raise Jesus. Hilarity ensues.

it’s considered highly offensive/ignorant to refer to a leader by their warrior name on purpose. slip ups happen of course, but directly referring to a leader by their warrior name is considered one of the biggest forms of disrespect. (ex. tigerstar probably mockingly refers to firestar by his warrior name in the df to show his disrespect towards him, brokenstar was called his warrior name by thunderclan warriors for moons to show the fact that they did not consider him a true leader, to his utmost humiliation)

deer are considered to be highly spiritual in clanlife and are “protected” - a clan cat cannot eat deer meat if they come across a carcass, it’s considered disrespectful to make dirt in an area where a deer has walked, etc. to see a deer even once is considered to be a blessing

in a few clans, there are certain times during the day in which it’s either a blessing or an omen for a kit to be born - kits who are born when the sun rises are said to grow to become wise cats, kits who are born during an overcast are said to have a lot of pain in their life

cats who have betrayed their clan are buried face down in the soil, as a way of symbolizing that they have “turned their backs” on starclan

during the vigil, the body of the fallen warrior has to be protected from all elements and the family of the warrior fasts for a week afterward - to eat even a day after a loved one has died is seen as disrespect

the first prey an apprentice catches tells different things about each apprentice (ex. an apprentice catching a mouse implies good eyesight and an inquisitive thinker, an apprentice catching a rabbit implies strength and quickness)

drowning is seen as the worst death by clan cats because the fear is that their spirit wont reach starclan; medicine cats must spend an extended amount of time praying for the cat and applying specific herbs to their body scent to help them get to starclan
