Took me a hot minute to write this post cus i forgot how to advertise on main...

First off, Im sorry for the inactivity in terms of posting, and the slow updates in terms of current commissions. Life had gotten rather messy. Nothing too dire of course, but its been tricky trying to stay on my feet. I tried to hold off on reopening until I settled down a bit, but unfortunately I need to help make rent so, Emergency Comms it is!

At my current capacity, I will only be taking in 3 or 4 at most.

He is the victim. He is the problem. He is a retelling of the myth of Lucifer. The basis of his personhood was forged in an act of violence. He is an incredibly talented politician and leader with crippling self esteem issues. He is loved by all and given zero support. He knows that his father is in the wrong but only knows how to act exactly like his father. He loves deeply and is consumed by hatred. The second he was shown a hint of a more diplomatic approach he immediately understood it to be correct and then the effort he put in toward a genuinely good thing were sabotaged. He is a master manipulator who is incredibly susceptible to manipulation. He killed the person he loved most and died full of remorse, abandonned by all. He compels me to write fucking fix it AUs when I'm a seasoned lover of tragedy, because fuck me, I want that guy to be happy. I'm so insane about him you people have no idea

All of this. He’s so compelling. He can be so generous of heart and his wrath is catastrophic. He wanted his sons to have a place in a galaxy where the war was won, and the war he started will never end. The core pessimism of the Warhammer galaxy is embodied in this man whose actions could only ever lead to ruin, no matter what he intended. If I think about it too long it makes me cry. It’s so much. He’s so much. As he should be.

I tend to see Horus having 2 main characterization throughout the books. The Dan Abnett one and the Graham McNeil one.

In the Dan Abnett ver., he usually feels more like the victim of the constant pressure of the world around him, trying to do better. Always following his father’s ideals. The best way to see this is on either Horus Rising or Misbegotten.

In the McNeil ver., I always end up comparing him to Tony Soprano, both arrogant man with anger and other emotional issues. Horus feels so much selfish and insecure in this interpretation of his character. He is far more messy here, but he also loves people around him as long as they don’t step on his way. The best way to see this ver I could say is on Lupus Daemonis, where you see the birth of his personality and the part of his trauma.

I personally prefer the McNeil one, I find it more interesting, despite that the shift from this one to Dan’s between Horus Rising and False Gods being quite…jarring
