so, you know how everyone has like their one go to line for trying to pick up someone at a bar or just anywhere. well, rafe kind of goes to extremes with his. usually, he’ll somehow get them talking and eventually it’ll lead up to the biggest sob story ever. this story including the panamanian jail and so much fiction that there is no way any of it could ever possibly be true, and yet, some women still fall for it.
it all starts off with that he was stuck in a panamanian jail in his mid-20s. goes on to say that he made a few shady deals, was trying to just live life how he wanted and not by the family name. his dealings led him to get locked away, thrown in with the rest of the lowlifes that had found themselves stranded there.
he’ll recall the long nights, the dark cells and the cold floors, how the only sunlight he ever saw was when he could walk around in the designated area outside. he’ll speak of the beatings he received from other inmates because he was different, because he was a gringo. meanwhile, he’ll most likely start to choke up a little here, really sell the story.
what really gets most women is when he goes on to say how he managed to keep himself sane. how he thought of his family, how he thought of what he had done and what he ruined. how the only thing to keep himself occupied was to work out endlessly and to start praying. ( and to danika, he said that her face was all that could get him through those days and night. that the thought of her kept him going. )
finally, he comes to the end, about the day he was finally released, how his five or so years had finally come to an end and now, he could walk free amongst his peers and get back to a path that didn’t have him following a dark trail again. once again, cue some tears.
he’s most likely told this story to nadine, who honestly probably called him out on it. can’t say he didn’t try.
