One time. And then we delete the evidence." - "Not at the table, [name.]" - "I want you to know, [name], I'm a steel trap. Whatever happens tonight, I will never, ever, ever speak a word of it. - "Woah, we're not leaving a baby in the car." - "We're in a stolen cop car with what is sure to be a missing child in the back. What part of this is cool?" - "If that's what I think it is, it's a big fucking mistake!"
“Rozanov bothering you?” Kip asked. “Yeah,” Scott sighed. “He’s a real pain in the ass.”
Game Changer, Chapter 22
Ilya had caught the exhasperated reaction from Hunter and bit back a smile. He could tell that the Admirals captain was biting back the urge to insult him in return. He wasn't sure that spending a week with Hunter would be amusing or hell. Maybe, it would be a mix of the two.
It was a shame that Shane would most likely get on his ass if he took things too far.
The Centaurs captain was clearly skeptical of this so-called "good time," but he decided to indulge in Shane's whims. He was admittedly curious to see how things would be at his first theme park.
He had no clue what any of these names were. Grand Floridian? Tomorrowland? He decided he'd just leave the choices in Shane and Kip's capable hands. He'd just have to deal with surprises for the duration of his time here.
Though, when Kip brought up an impulsive change in plans, Ilya's eyes immediately darted to his husband. Shane's strained response was barely subtle. He could tell that his partner wasn't a big fan of sudden deviations from careful planning.
Acting on impulse, Ilya reached a hand over to give Shane's free one a grounding squeeze. Facing the other couple, he suggested, "Maybe keep the changes in plans to..." He furrowed his eyebrows briefly, trying to think of the foreign term. "...less?" That wasn't the right phrase, but the meaning would be understood.
"Or if you want to do your own exploring, we can split up sometimes?" he added. He glanced back at Shane, wondering if that would be enough to soothe his husband.
@gamechxnger
Scott listened to all of them and agreed with Ilya, "I mean I'm all about cutting down on wait times, and all that. But I do agree with Ilya, we don't all have to stay together the entire time. If there's a night or two you guys want to go and do your own thing then you absolutely should." He offered a small smile to Shane, not wanting anyone to feel overwhelmed by any of this. "I'm honestly just along for all the good food, I've been jonesing for a corn dog from the Magic Kingdom for awhile," he jokingly wagged his eyebrows at Kip. Before looking at the other two, "I say we adhere to Shane's plan, then maybe pick a night or two that we split up so we can go do our own thing, get the best of both worlds maybe?"
He said, "there's also an incredible shopping mall on the property too, with more food options and more entertainment options too. I love the cookie shop there, it's called --- Gideon's I think? Cookies the size of your hand, they're delicious."
@deservessunshine
It was true. They didn’t have to stay together the whole time, but Kip did like the idea of spending time together as a group too. Then again, it was going to be a long trip, they have all the time in the world. “Adhering to the plan it is,” Kip nodded with a smile, agreeing with that being the best course of action. The last thing he meant to do was throw off their day. He remembered the majority of the details, but knew that Shane knew the plan inside and out in comparison to himself.
Kip took Scott's hand, laughing at his remark before kissing his hand. “Heading towards Frontierland was next on the schedule right? Could go ahead and do Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, I know that was on the itinerary.”

HEATED RIVALRY | Season 1, Episode 5, "I'll Believe in Anything"
starter for @deservessunshine
Scott and Kip had been riding the high of the Stanley Cup win and his very public declaration of love. It was the first time in a very long time, possibly ever, that Scott genuinely felt great. If he wasn't giving interviews on his own, Kip was there with him telling his side of the story; there were photoshoots, new endorsement deals he didn't even think possible, some even wanting Kip in on the action as well. They were very much enjoying their summer and the spotlight on them.
But as just like everything else, what comes up, eventually, must come back down.
Kip happened to be at work and Scott was enjoying a rare morning of just relaxing at home. He already had plans on bringing Kip lunch and eating with him so he was just killing time until he needed to go. Deciding to check his emails, he saw a subject line that made his blood run cold.
SUBJECT: HI SON.
Scott knew he should just delete the email, assuming he knew exactly who it was from, but after a moment, he clicked on it.
Hi Scotty,
I know it's been a long time and I'm not even sure if you yourself reads these emails, but I thought I would drop a line anyway. Congratulations on your Stanley Cup win, and your relationship with your boyfriend, Kip Grady. Your mother would be proud of you.
I was going to be in New York and would like a chance to see you. It's been so long since we've last seen one another. Let me take you and your boyfriend out to lunch.
Best,
Dad.
Scott could feel the red in his face rising with every sentence he read in his father's email to him. Michael Hunter. The piece of shit that bailed on him and his mother when he was barely old enough to remember him, the man who ignored his sons calls when his mother was dying of cancer and he was drowning trying to take care of her, emailing him like there was nothing to it. Slamming his laptop shut, he could feel himself on the verge of a panic attack, taking a few steadying breaths he decided there was only one place he could go right now to feel better.
He entered the Kingfisher like a man on a mission, Scott's poker face was non existent at this point and he looked like he was on the verge of tears. Slumping into the booth he usually sat in, he covered his face and took a steadying breath, waiting for Kip to see him.
Kip wasn’t very far into his shift that evening. The Kingfisher wasn’t really that crowded that evening for some reason. Considering that it was a Friday night, he thought for sure it would be a lot more crowded than it was? Wild. Who knew? Maybe it would get more crowded later? Who knows with this city sometimes. He saw Scott come in and storm past the bar, making no eye contact. He was worried. While he definitely took his time making the drink for the patron at the bar, he made it quickly. A few seconds later, he left Nichole temporarily to run the bar so he could go see what was up.
“Hey, hey, hey…” Kip said, immediately going to sit beside of him. His arm quickly going around him, rubbing his back in a small pattern. The look in his eye worried him, concern in his own eyes. “What’s going on babe?” He had been just fine when he left the house a few hours ago. Kip wondered what could have possibly happened in between then and now?
Scott was feeling amazing after the game him and the Admirals had against Montreal that evening and was looking forward to dinner with Shane and Kip. He had tried to get out of the arena as quickly as he could but with the C on his jersey came certain duties that he couldn't skirt by no matter what. He beamed when he heard Kip, walking over he stole a kiss and grinned against his lips a moment, "great, let me change out of these clothes and I'll come back and help set up everything." Stealing another kiss he went off to the bedroom, changing into a cleaner pair of joggers and a comfortable t-shirt. Coming back out he wrapped his arms around Kip's waist a minute, kissing his cheek he said, "where do you--"
He was going to ask where he wanted him but a knock came to the door. Standing up he said, "that must be our guy." Kissing his cheek he walked over to the front door and opened it, smiling.
"Hey Shane, come on in." Scott stepped to the side, "I'm glad you've come."

Shane spend way too long standing under the almost scalding stream of hot water, one of the last to showers tonight, staring at the tiles until his vision blurred, trying to keep himself together.
They played a good game, honestly—they really did. Close as hell, head-to-head until the third. Shane knew one team had to win, one team had to lose, but something about this particular game made his chest tighten and tied his throat in knots he couldn’t shake. Most of the guys didn’t give a flying fuck. Pride Night meant nothing special to them, like any other game. But for Shane, it carried weight he couldn’t just shrug off.
After everything, Shane got dressed as usual, said his goodbyes to Hayden and JJ, and finally made his way to the door of the house where he’d been invited. Only twenty minutes later, he stood there, hesitating, tempted to turn on his heel and claim he’d gotten sick on the ride home. He couldn’t. He wouldn’t. The guilt would eat him alive.
He drew in a deep breath, trying to smooth the knot in his chest, and knocked. Then he plastered on his most perfected Hollywood smile. The door opened, and Shane felt a small pulse of relief at the warmth in the room. He stepped inside, hands at his sides, posture trying to stay relaxed.
"Hey, thanks for having me-" he said, voice steady, maybe a little too polished.

Kip liked when they had company at the apartment, loved it, even. It was such a stark contrast to early on in their relationship and he honestly couldn’t be happier. “Glad you could come,” he said from the big table as they came into view. He was moving about still, making sure everything was ready on the table. Back and forth from the kitchen, he’d bring the final pieces. It wasn’t anything formal like that, he just wanted to make sure everything was ready for them.
Per several texts, he was sure he had the meal just right, aligned with everyone’s choices. Between the three of them, he found a good option. “I’ve got ginger ale for you Shane,” Kip spoke with a smile, recalling that from their conversation at the Kingfisher. He took a few steps toward the fridge, getting one out for him and putting it at the table by one of the plates.
“Food should be good and hot, literally just finished it a minute or so after he got here,” Kip said, overlooking the table once he was done. Everything looked great. He grabbed a water for him and then whatever Scott wanted, taking a guess as he put them both at the table.

Dinner With the Hunters
Kip had left the game after the first period to get started on dinner. He’d already got the groceries delivered to the house so he had that going for him. Ginger ale was stocked in the fridge for their guest. He took his time cooking the specific meal with great care and attention to detail, putting the game on the TV while he cooked. Although Kip didn’t know Shane that well, he was happy to have him over. As the game ended, he was thrilled they got the win, even more so because it was on Pride night.
He was lost in thought when Scott eventually arrived, hearing the door open. “Hey babe, good game,” Kip called out with a smile, putting eyes on him as he put plates on the table. A second later, he paused to kiss him when he came closer, grin remaining as he did. “Got a text from Shane a few minutes ago, said he’d be here as soon as he could.” He was aware of everything Scott had to do post-game so he assumed it was more of the same for him as well. “Everything’s ready.”

Ilya was perplexed by the suggestion since the get-go. During a joint visit to the Kingfisher, Kip had suggested a double date trip to Disney World. Shane seemed immediately onboard with this for... some reason. It was Ilya and Shane with Hunter and Kip. The more shocking part of this was the fact that everyone agreed to this while mostly being sober.
While he was happy about the idea of going on a date with husband, he wasn't sure on why it was a family theme park.
Then again, he’d never been to one before. Maybe Kip and Shane knew something he didn’t. Still… Disney World? Surely, Canada had amusement parks that didn’t involve flying across a continent.
What he did understand was the way Shane had thrown himself into planning. Every detail mapped out, every reservation made, every minute accounted for. Ilya had no idea what any of it meant, but he admired the enthusiasm.
He just nodded along as Shane explained their itenerary. When his husband asked if there were questions, he raised his hand.
"I have question," he remarked. "Why are we here again?"
He glanced over at Hunter, mischief flickering across his face. “Are we sure Hunter will survive? Is a lot of walking for an old man.” A small smirk tugged at his lips as he said it.
Scott is beginning to wonder if he needed to dial back the drinking.
It wasn't uncommon for him and Kip to meet up with Shane and Ilya while they were in town. It was just, what they did. But somehow, within the midst of their conversations, Kip suggested the two couples go on a Disney World trip together, and while he was completely on board with a trip to Disney, dealing with Ilya for a week seemed like a special level of hell he wasn't too sure if he was ready to handle or not.
Hearing Ilya's chirp about his age made Scott close his eyes for a minute, he would behave, he told Kip he would behave. Taking a drink, he decided to not engage with the chirp, "which of the resort hotels are we staying at the park again? Was it the Grand Floridian or the Polynesian Resort?" He looked over to Shane as he drank his beer, wondering if perhaps they were close enough to any sort of swamp area he can push Rozanov into, that sounded like a good time.
"I'm assuming we've also got transportation dialed in for the trip between the resort and the airport?"
Kip shook his head at Shane’s question and then turned to Ilya. “And to answer that, we’re here to have a good time.” He and Shane both were determined to make sure it was a good time after their planning sessions before the trip and literally on the plane here. As well as the night before. He was determined to have a good time, him and Shane would definitely make that happen for all of them. “Grand Floridian babe,” he spoke, kissing Scott’s cheek as he slipped his phone into his pocket.
“And of course. I double-checked this morning, I took care of it. All ready for four days from now,” he then took a second, biting his lower lip as he looked ahead. He knew they had a premade schedule, but Kip was going off of feeling at the moment. “I kind of want to check out the Lightcycle run again, it was really cool last time. Could head over that way in Tomorrowland?” he added, looking towards Hollander.

"Oh yes, I didn't know the body could flail like that whilst falling." Scott teased a moment before kissing him back. "Still anyone's game baby, remember that." He laughed as he got comfortable on the couch. "What are you feeling like for dinner?"
He shook his head, laughing warmly. Kip couldn't lie. He did want to get better at skating, thinking it was something fun the two could do together. His eyes focused on the TV as the game went on. He nearly scored again, but got blocked. "Don't know, we could order out?"
"Let me see," Scott kissed his neck, "I was thinking at least 45 minutes?" He joked, nipping at his ear lobe as he stood behind Kip, "that's a respectable break yes?" He continued kissing along Kip's neck softly.
Kip kept his eyes closed as he kissed his neck. He was absolutely weak for it. Those papers were hardly on his mind at that point."At least 45 minutes? Hmmn," he pondered, smiling lightly. "What about... thirty? I'm sure you can do a lot in thirty." He was curious to see how Scott would respond.
"Slow your roll there babe, still need to get my card back." Scott grinned, leaning up he gave Kip a quick kiss as the waitress brought back the tag and the card. Signing for the meal, he tipped her well and stood up, taking Kip's hand he said, "lets get home then shall we?"
Kip kept his eyes on Scott the whole time, giving that specific look on purpose while he got his card back and filled out the receipt for the tip. He knew exactly what he was doing, leaning closer to kiss his temple. "Let's go home then, before I repeat myself again," he spoke, voice at a whisper at his ear. At that rate, they were going to drive home way too fast.
