DE Shave Blog - Goals

Welcome to DE Shave blog! My goal is to provide hands on impressions and meticulous photography of 24 different razors from around the world. DE Shaving is more popular than it has been in years, and I am a new convert as well. 

Thus far I've loved the smoother, more luxurious, and CHEAPER shaves I've gotten. Hopefully this blog can act as a reference for those thinking about taking the plunge or new to the DE shaving world. 

I ordered this razor collection on Amazon. It's very important to find the right razor for your face, and I imagine the perfect blade for me will be in this collection.

Every time I switch a razor, I will provide high quality close ups of the packaging and the blade itself. I plan to increase production values over time. Additionally, I will provide product shots of and thoughts on shaving accessories.

After three shaves, I will provide a review on each razor's performance as well as the likelihood I will use the razor in the future.

Pinaud Clubman After Shave Lotion

Clubman Pinaud has a pleasant smell from the bottle, if a bit overwhelmed by the alcohol. This alcohol smell dissipates greatly once applied. This is NOT a lotion in the traditional sense, but a liquid instead. Nice, cool feeling to the skin when splashed. Even though I had nicked my self prior to first application, I didn’t feel too much stinging. My skin tightened nicely but still felt smooth and not overly dry.

Aromas mellow to a powdery, barber shop scent. It’s very difficult to isolate scents here - a floral undertone is accompanied by warmth of indistinct spices.

My fiancee describes the scent as orangey, and not too strong. She had a reaction I imagine no one else in the world would have - it reminds her of the meat inside of Chef Boy-R-Dee ravioli. This was a huge damper on the evening, and I am now in the market for an additional aftershave, although I will continue to wear this and hop that she acclimates to the smell.

The next aftershave will most likely be Pinaud Clubman’s Bay Rum Aftershave.
