Origami Giant

I fold like origami,

arms wrapped around my knees.

I cry out for mommy —

"Please, come and hug me, please."

But no one comes to hold

my shaking, heavy bones.

"You're too big," I'm told,

"your feelings weigh like stones."

It's hard to be a giant

beyond my human form,

a spirit still defiant,

bearing all the storm.

I yearn for someone taller,

to feel embarrassed for once.

I howl and scream, I call her—

a quiet resonance.
